I'm after getting a call saying our St. Bernard has jumped the wall at the front of the house and has broken one of his nails. Its bleeding so its obviously below the blood line. Will this heel/stop bleeding itself? He's due at the vets in the morning to be neutored anyawy.

Probably should take him in, it normally doesn't stop bleeding on its own or heal. The vet will probably have to wrap it, make sure its clean because broken toenails would be prone to infection.

Thanks for the reply. The bleeding did stop, but on further investigation, it seemed to be bleeding more from beside the nail rather than the nail itself. He's at the vets now anyway, so they'll have a look.
