if you go to the uk web site, select DVD, and on the left hand side select "this weeks Specials" they have a nice selection of DVDs for around £5

    ... or i guess i could just link http://www13.cd-wow.com/product_list_2.php?dvd_list=266

    Serenity Region1 £5 http://www13.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=23176

For those of us who are using the current promotion from McDonalds and getting €5 off, what bargains have you found? Just looking for a few suggestions.

To get things rolling, I've bought the following so far:

Old Grey Whistle Test (2 DVD) -> €6.99 (€1.99 with voucher)

    Final Destination 2 -> €6.99 (€1.99 with voucher)

Reservoir Dogs 15th Anniversary Gasoline Can Edition (2DVD) -> €14.99 (€9.99 with voucher)

Nothing beats ordering a (good) €1.99 DVD or two!

    Any other suggestions? :)

Brill!! Missed that Old Grey set when I was browsing. Just ordered it with a €2 voucher. See they also have Vol.2 for €6.99 as well..Think I'll grab that as well.

Used my €5 voucher on Buffy Series 5 - €21 with Voucher. Pretty happy with that.

Even though it's supposed to be for CD's and DVD's only, I used 3 of them
for calendars that are 12.99 Euro in the shops in town for 3.99 Euro on CDWOW.

You can get around this if you copy and paste the product code from something on the .com site onto the .ie site it will give you the euro equivalent price.

For example on the link above for the films under a fiver copy the product code for say dog soldiers is detail_results_2.php?product_code=4314&subcat=region2 (part after the .com bit) copy and paste it onto cdwow.ie/detail_results_2.php?product_code=4314&subcat=region2 and there it comes up for €6.99

Handy if you the seacrh engine is acting up on the .ie or .net site! :D

Just in case anyone is interested. Vol.2 is just a single disc version. But is still bloody good value IMO.

Nightingales, old comedy from 91 C4 with robert lindsay and david threlfall. Sort of precursor to the mighty boosh. 10.30 after the McD voucher.

Season 1 and 2 of Miami Vice are 21.50 after the McD voucher.

God I remember Nightingales - dark comedy!

    A few more:

Ireland's Showband Legends (DVD) €7.84 (€2.84 with voucher)

..and the following all at €8.99 (€3.99 with voucher):

    Now Christmas (CD)

O Brother, Where Art Thou?: Special Edition (2 DVD Set)

    Totally Bill Hicks

    Black Books Series 3

Presuming this promotion will end before christmas why not buy some vouchers in advance for use next year. The lowest one can get is 15 euros so it's only a tenner.

Good idea about the vouchers, sweetie! Has anyone bought one yet?

I remember reading here somewhere that CDWOW vouchers have to be spent all at once (or some terms & conditions like that)?

    Hi,

I tried to use my McDonalds CDWow voucher but when I enter it in the promotional code it does'nt work.

Is the code under the flap at the top of drink carton?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 669 ✭✭✭sarahn11

I had the same issue with 3 codes I got yesterday, got exactly the same reply to my e-mail, so I asked them to give me the e-mail address used and when it was, no reply so from them so far.

    Regards

Ye, there's a problem with the codes, none are working anymore. I have 5 that definetly have not been used - we got them legitately by paying for grub. When I enter any of them it says the code is incorect! The cdwow account I was using has no codes attributed to it, so it's nothing to do with aready receiving vouchers, they just plain don't work.

I knew exactly what I wanted with the codes so this is a kick in the teeth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,413 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Yeah, i've got one or two codes i can't use.

Might send CDWOW an e-mail about it.. but promotion must be over!

Same here I'm still waiting for a reply requesting this info. I think I'll get on to McDonald's about it. If it was just for myself I wouldn't be too bothered but my 11 year old has his heart set on some Greenday CDs and it's out of his pocket money. €5 is a lot to a child.

Thats a shame... What I would do is (depending on the friendliness of the person on the till/drive-through) explain this when ordering your next meal and ask for a few extra cups - I've gotten a few this way (though not all worked!!). I suppose not everyone would be as obliging though.. but its worth a shot!

It seems to me that this promotion has had flaws from the very start...
I wonder would they pull it altogether? McDonalds would hardly want any bad publicity associated with this..?

Well, I used a code last night and it was accepted, so I don't think they're all off (at least they weren't then). I've noticed that CD Wow are very slow to fill orders at the moment. I placed an order (with another voucher) for a chart CD very early on the 24th and it's still pending. Don't remember them ever being that slow in the past.

I've sent an email to McDs so we'll see what happens. I pointed out that I'm not the only one that's experiencing this problem

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 99 ✭✭FakePlasticMan

I had a problem with the sole one of these vouchers I've used so far. Got my redeem code..filled it in...and the page came up saying the voucher had been emailed to my account. But it never arrived, so I emailed them and a very helpful guy emailed back and asked me for the code and where I purchased the meal. I didn't have the code anymore as I dumped the cup as soon as I got the message saying the voucher had been emailed. So he sent me a voucher code anyway. But like someone said above..there are problems with this offer. Haven't tried another one since..rarely ever visit McD's...but from what I'm reading here would probably be wasting my time and money anyway.
