    Yes, it may be seen as "the opium of the masses" for some, and it has
    done humanity few favours by limiting our awareness of facts and stifling
    the inquiring mind, but it has a role in today's materialistic society
    that we would do well to acknowledge and not deny.

    Notwithstanding all that, it is physics itself which leads the way in
    terms of mystical appreciation of the universe we live in.
