Bloody ridiculous they didn't warn people of this work going on..

I swear I had tears in my eyes again I got to Bray!!

yes It was very bad, the big problem that today morning they said in the radio that the work is still going on but I noticed that this is not true

Now I am not sure if this night would be same as last night...

Sorry to hear about your traffic woes dubgirl.
I heard about in on my walkman yesterday evening,
left work in Tallaght at 6.15 took the Dublin mountains road via Glencree
and Enniskerry and in Bray by 7.20

All this misery for people because of a burst water pipe!!

    Good luck this evening!

I was going in the opposite direction on the N11 last night, ie from greystones to Dun Loaghaire...Traffic was backed right up from Bray Fassaroe exit, where it was down to one lane, right up to the roundabout at Killiney Shopping centre.

Was on the way back at 10pm and the traffic was very slow from Loughlinstown. When I got past the Wilford interchange (north Bray) all of a sudden it started flowing well. Two Guards on motorbikes forced the workers to open two lanes....probably a bit late in the day. The work to the hole on the ground was on the hard shoulder and not in one of the driving lanes. I don't think the guards will allow the two lanes be closed tonight at rush hour.

One other thing I noticed at 10pm was a heck of alot cars abandoned on the side of the road...I take it these people ran out of petrol just sitting in traffic. So there is a need for Service Stations on the motorway...There were some minor rear-ender crashes too.

We'd heard about it on the radio when we were leaving work last night (city centre), so decided to go to Dundrum and indulge in retail therapy.

So, left city at 5:45 arrived home at 10pm! :D

Works finished this morning, judging by the lack of action at the site.

left the balallay park and ride at 7.45pm....pulled into greystones at 11.30pm, i think i had actually lapsed into insanity at that point. nearly ran out of petrol as well, limped into the garage at the bray exit. it was a bloody nightmare, i think i'll need therapy to get over it.

Just for the info of those of you who don't know any other route than the M50 to get to Bray/Greystones...

At Jn 15 of the M50 head up towards Kiltiernan, at the top of that road there's the Golden Ball Pub, turn left there and then through the Scalp you'll come to a fork in the road with an Esso Garage on it (currently under construction). For Bray, take the left fork and turn left immediately, then follow that road to the end, turn left and then right. This road will then bring you into Bray at the junction adjacent to the Ford Dealer & Statoil Garage, where you can turn left to rejoint the M11 or turn right and go through Bray Town for the head and Greystones.

There is an alternative route if you were to take the Right fork and go through Enniskerry, which takes you to the South Bray exit on the N11, but I don't want to be responsible for getting you lost, as while I know the route, I don't think I could describe it well and it's not signposted!

So it would be a hard night like last night:(

Is there another road to go from Blackrock to Greytones?

    Thanks Mike - good thinking!

No way I'm going home tonight though - the wounds are too fresh.

Hope I'm not going on about it too much;)

Drove straight home last night, didn't run into even a little bit of traffic all the way from smithfield to greystones.

...okay, so I didn't leave work until 2330, but still...

Yeah yesterday was a complete nightmare, I got home at 8.00 which isn't so bad after hearing everyone elses stories! I went the back roads and got completely lost, eventually ended up in roundwood and got back onto the main road just past Avoca. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got home.

Bertie any updates would be most welcome! I had been told it was all finished but I was misinformed obviously.

I was coming home at 10pm last night, fully expecting the mayhem to be finished, luckily I got a warning phonecall and went up through Kilternan and up some windy roads to old connaght avenue in Bray.

I'm fairly familiar with the route and even I was a bit nervous, they are bad roads and on a wet night they are dangerous. And not a signpost to be seen so beware people you could get very lost

Per the radio, some guy left Inchicore at 6:30pm and arrive in Greystones at 12:30am! Makes the DART/shuttle bus combo seem supersonic!

Friend passed the works was able to do 100 kmph about 5/guys cleaning up and laying tarmac both lanes open but hard shoulder closed road works in Kilmacanogue now though. Are wcc taking the piss

I left City West at 4 yesterday, made it back to Bray at 9.10 (had to stop in the GFs house for food!)

I left Citywest at 5pm yesterday. I took the back roads to Glencullen and then at Johnny Foxes junction, I took a left heading towards Enniskerry. These are dangerous roads. I know the roads well as I used to take them from Dun Laoghaire to Citywest before the M50 & M11 link opened. I got home at 6.15pm. There was no one else on the road, there is no point me explaining as there is little or no sign posts. May take the same route again this evening.

My Dad was doing his nut as it took him 4 hours to get from Dalkey to Bray (the exit were the water repairs were taking place).

I saw three abandoned cars on the southbound carrige way near the Loughlinstown fly over this morning. I reckon there were more abandoned. One girl know, left here car on the hard shoulder near the Loughlinstown fly over and walked to Shankill Dart station to get to Greystones!

There was somewhere between ten and fifteen last night on the verges from the M50/M11 intersection through to the north offramp to Bray.

I left Clonshaugh yesterday at 4pm and I always listen to DCAL (Dublin City Anna Livia 103.2fm) It was reporting the delays at that stage and told everyoen to avoid N11 at all cost. I took the turn off for Carrickmines and up to KILTERNAN....take a left at the top and bascially follow the road all the way to enniskerry. When you arrive at the cross roads there you go straight ahead and you turn left at the next junction. Follow the road as far as you can keeping on the main road. Do not turn off at any juntions or "Ys" in the roads. The road ends up behind the sugar loaf and you come to a turn that says "Glendologh and Roundwood" right and Kilmacanogue left. Keep on that road and you will end up at a mini roundabout go right over the flyover in Kilmacanogue and onto the N11. got home at 1755!!! Which was a million times quicker than anyone who ended up staying on the main road. If there are ever any delays like that again go that way. Came home that way today and took me just 1hr.:D

Last night was perfect; the work seems to be over and most of the people avoided N11; so it was even better than before:)

    4 hours 50 mins.
Someone should lose their job for that kind of cock-up.

The only time I saw the gardai was to escort what looked like a ministerial merc being driven the wrong way up the other side of the motorway.

Amazing how the fat cats can get to go where mere mortals would get penalty points.

Severely disgruntled. Can't wait for the campaigners to knock on my door for the next local elections. I have a long memory.

They spoke about it on Matt Coopers show, the Guards spokesperson said at one staged they escorted a medical doctor for an emergency in a black mercedes car... who knows though...

btw I better watch next time I score goals against you in football, I'm scared of your long memory!
