Was in Tesco looking for a DVD player (as my son managed to trash the current one).

Well Tesco have a load of really cheap DVD players. They are region free too (need to find the code yourself :p ).

Also plays various dvd disc type, CDs, VCD, mp3s.

Why do people insist on super cheap DVD players. You really do get what you pay for.

Well you have a baby? :) I do.. he's already destroyed the other DVD.

If I want quality I watch them on my XPS.

But an Xbox, chip it and stick on xboxmediacenter,

Seriously.... Since i did this about 2 years ago i've never looked back ! :)

Plays every format under the sun, It's networkable and has a really cool interface.

Plus you can stick scripts on it so you have youtube, googlevids and thelaunch.com all at your fingertips with a remote control :D

    Scripts are here :)

    Vid of it here :

And its region free .. open source and free!

    Hey,

The exact price for the DVD Player in Tesco is €35.99. I looked at the manual and while it plays many formats, it said it only plays the Region for Europe. It doesnt say it plays other regions? But, this site seems to be able to offer a solution to the problem:-

They are not bad little dvd players though, my sister and i bought 4 in the uk in the summer for around £17.50 each. She gave her 2 to her kids for xmas prezzies(along with tvs for their bedrooms), my mum got one for our holiday home and i have 1 for my bedroom. They may be cheap but they "do what it says on the box" and as hobbes said if you've got kids why pay out for an expensive one for them to wreck!

My mate just bought a 2nd hand XBOX, only 6 months old, on the buyandsell for €70, he says you don't need to pysically chip them any more, there is software available to download that will now do it. Running mediacenter, streaming TV off the net etc. etc. Great value for just €70!

Bought one during the 25% rebate offer and have to say, it's the best DVD player I've got
    (on number 5).
Picture quality is superb and much better then some of the other ones I've got.
Nice and small, ideal for small spaces.
Easy to set up, easy to use, great value at the price.

The only thing against it was when you turned it on, the TESCO logo
comes up on the screen :(

I bought one there was sound but no picture.

It also does not come with a skart lead or any type of wire to connect it to the telly - i suppose you cant expect one for that price.

I bought one of these Technikas a year or so ago and it skipped terribly - newer ones could be okay though

    Seconded.
I'd rather buy an xbox1 and have it do that than the 360 at the moment.

Often as a result of the scart connection between the DVD and the TV. Happens all the time on a lot of DVD Players. Just fiddle with the connection at the back of the TV and it should work.

Some do, some dont. Iv bought expensive DVD Players / Recorders in the past without scart leads or other types of connections.
