Pretty much Aer Lingus and ermm Aer Lingus, if you are speaking of direct flights. I think easyJet fly from Belfast though, if you include that.

Ryanair go to Eindhoven, with a bus connection to Amsterdam

was thinking as much, though transavia used to go dublin rotterdam.

netherlands are really underserviced by ryanair compared to other countries. eindhoven is the only destination in the whole country from any other country, not just ireland.

    pity...

Dublin direct to Eindhoven is cheap enough depending on your booking(time etc)
Go straight to Eindhoven station and get 2 klasse ticket to Centraal(near city centre in Amsterdam) which costs about €16, but if you leave it too late the train goes to Schipol and you need to get a train back down to Centraal.
Train is from Eindhoven to Amsterdam is about 1hr20minutes and is quite handy really.
Fying with Aerlingus or KLM to Amsterdam is too expensive(in the region of triple the price of flight with ryanair plus train ticket to Amsterdam).
If you are going over for a week it's economical to go to Eindhoven, aerlingus are too dear.
Forgot to add, that's a train from Eindhoven to Amsterdam I mentioned. The trains are very fast, and you get to pass Ajax stadium on the train and going to train/bus station in Eindhoven you pass PSV stadium. You get to see it all :)

I'm looking to go in January Saturday the 14th till the following Friday. Looking @ 100euro pp return to amsterdam with aerlingus which isn't too unreasonable. Anywhere significantly cheaper? Also, where's cheap (but safe) to stay for two guys of 18/19? The Bicycle hotel looks OK (50 a night)

Check out hostel world for accomodation , I have the last 3 times stayed at the greenhouse effect hotel on Warmoestraat which is <5mins walk from centraal station with a coffeshop in house and prob the highest concentration of coffeshops in amsterdam within this area .. if that rocks your boat .. when checking the rooms out dont go for the ones in blue as they are 10-15 min walk from where most people consider the action is !!

How far is Eindhoven airport from Eindhoven train station and how do you get to it?

Also, has anyone ever stayed in Durty Nelly's hostel in Amsterdam?

And finally, what clubs would you guys recommend in Amsterdam city centre?

    thanks

Stayed in Durty Nellys a few years ago, around 2000 if i remember rightly. It was nothing special, if a bit on the scruffy side. Its RIGHT on the edge of the red light district. Id go for the Flying Pig Hostel if I were you. Google it for details. AFAIR they keep about 60%+ of their beds available for walk ins, so you shouldnt have any trouble getting a bed. Its a much nicer hostel than Durty Nellys.

If the pub part is anything to go by, then Durty Nellies hostel would be rough enough!

For clubs, the favourites are Escape, Melkweg and Paradiso, they open till around 5.

    thanks Razzle

what sort of music is in these clubs? i'm into progressive and techno and can only take a bit of that trashy trance...

any other good techno/house clubs? (house that's not too fast that is)

heading over on Stephens day for 3 nights. heard it's going to be busy...

Also, though i have searched the boards on this i have come to no real conclusion; would like to do 3/4 touristy things and have in mind Anne Frank museum, Van gogh museum, canal boat cruise and maybe Heineken Brewery.

Would you guys recommend the above, or any others?

    thanks for your help.

    s.
