Just purchased a new Gibson Les Paul Standard in faded tabacco burst on ebay! Over a grand cheaper than Musician Inc and MMaker and 900 cheaper than Thomann.

I wasn't even looking for a Les Paul :( It just seemed like such a good deal!(I sound like a woman!)

That's twice I have clicked the BuyItNow button in the last couple of months without having the necessary funds or approval(if you know what I mean)

I may have to ban myself from the net all together. To me it's fine because I always tell myself that I can just sell them if need be. The only problem is that "need be" would have to involve the death of a VERY close family member (on my side :D )

Damn...you really do need to be under supervision when you're online :D

Congrats man! And remember what the Doc says:"It doesn't exist without pics."

Oh and if you sounded like a woman you wouldn't say you just spent a grand, you'd say I just saved a grand. :p

The support is somewhat worrying, and from the fellow mature ;) boarders too. Can't imagine what we'll be encouraging each other to buy when the mid life sh1t kicks in! :D

Pics when I get it for sure!

What do you expect us to do?

Some day, one of us will come on and say "My wife's left me, taken the kids, and I have to sell the house and pay her half!" and the answer from the other Instruments forum heads will be "Use your half of the payment to buy this, and live inside it."

Dude, I share your pain (and affliction), trust me :)

Karl - Cool Link - does anyone actually ever use one of those things or is it a gag?

It was built as a showpiece for trade shows such as NAMM.

Yep, I feel your pain, substitute Les Paul for Edwards 58 style V at an insultingly low price on the damn u-box :o

Nice one Doc. I actually searched for Gibson because I was thinking of a V or an Explorer or firebird or something a bit different. That means they are still outstanding ;)

    Down boy DOWN!!!!

    Sorry about that. ;)

If it makes you feel any better, the Doc linked me to a Yamaha John Myung sig that's going for £399 and ending today. I'm in agony because there's no way I can come close to affording it. :o

What does GAS stand for? I know what it is, that's why I have my G&L!! "Oh just come have a look at it" he said, "Sure have a loan of it for a few days" he said. Bastard.

The one thing that I've been consistantly gassing over for about 2 years now is this. Some day... some day. :o

I've been gassing over this blinging machine, and it's more understated brother.
I've already started selling my other axes..
The sick thing is, my other Gretsch still hasn't arrived. Stupid bloody FMIC.
Ah well, I've found a guy based in Ireland importing them at stonking prices so he'll be my next port of call when I get the funds for the Jet.

Just incase you're jumping into things, the guitar in your first pic is slightly different, but sells for the same price.

Very nice guit. Needs speed knobs though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

Feylya. That Edwards is really nice man. But don't feel pressured to buy it just because its eating away at you and you feel incomplete without it. The pain will eventually go away but you will never, NEVER be the same again. And for the rest of your days on this earth you will question the day that you chose not to give in, and rue the fact that a little bit of you was lost forever!

GS. Yes that is the site I got the LS200 off. I have now banned myself from it!

Wow! Very, very nice collection! :D

Ps I know what you mean about some of those tops looking like a print-out. Whats up with that? They seem to have a bunch of them in Waltons. Anyway - what's it like to play?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

Feylya. Mine is black, bought from new in 92! I thought yours was a dark green!

Johnny, I'm not decided on the playability of the LP. The frets are a bit high and blocky and until I get a set of elixirs onto it I'll hold off on the final call. She sounds really nice but a bit bright and punchy for a LP.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Hee, it's so hard to tell the colours. Most people think mine is black too. It's always funny when they go "is this the same guitar you had last week?" :p

    Damn nice collection though!

Maybe a good setup would help ?

Ah yeah, the LSS, i remember that, was wondering when we'd get pics.

Lovely amp, people tend to forget that mesa doesnt have to be high gain recto-type stuff. What do ya think of it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Quattroste

The amp is really really nice. Very retro vintage tones(he says as if he could play!) It needs to be brought to a garage or similar and given a good blast at it's proper volume level. You can still get nice breaking valve tone at lower volume because of the switchable watts but it just aint the same ;). I'm surprised at just how versitile the amp is. The Strat and the 335 sound best through it. To be honest most of my equipment is wasted on me, but who cares :D

Johnny, i'll give the elixers a go and set it up as best I can. If i'm still not decided your welcome to give it a lash yourself! I wont pretend to know what I'm doing ;)
