    Hey there,

Maximum Joy are proud to announce debuts in Dublin for 'Mock & Toof' and 'They came from the stars, I saw them'. Also performing on the night are the rather deadly Deep Burial.
This promises to be an insane night with 'Mock & Toof' showcasing some of the reasons why DFA have decided to release their next single, and 'They came from the stars ...' kicking out some psychedelic jim jams.

    MOCK & TOOF (DFA//Tiny Sticks)
Rising stars of trippy leftfield avant disco productions. They are also responsible for introducing Dondolo to an unsuspecting public through their Tiny Sticks imprint. Watch out for their forthcoming release on DFA.
The London-based duo turned their attentions to music-making a little over a year ago, with Mock also founding the Tiny Sticks label, now lauded across the board as one of the most interesting UK independents to emerge in years, after a string of forward-thinking, beautifully packaged twelve-inches. Mock & Toof's crafty re-edit of Madonna ('Lycra Virgin') was burning up the internet for yonks, sure, but how did they hook up with DFA? "I used to bug their manager by sending him tracks we were working on," recalls Mock. "I thought they were falling on deaf ears until one day he got back to us and said he was totally into what we were doing. Bit of e-mail contact, then suddenly we're remixing The Juan Maclean!"

"These are exciting times," Mock continues. "Electronic music has been pushed underground in the last few years, so the emphasis is less on sales and more on creativity..." And Mssrs M&T are nothing if not creative - having rewired Lo-Fi Fnk's 'Change Channel' to superb effect, the boys have a riotous version of Hot Chip's 'Over & Over' doing the club rounds and are preparing to release 'K-Choppers', their debut for Death From Abroad. Even without factoring in their hectic DJ schedule, it's clearly going to be a big few months for this affable pair of disco infiltrators. Refill your cereal bowl and watch 'em blow up.

THEY CAME FROM THE STARS, I SAW THEM
They came from the stars, i saw them have ebbed and flowed along their merry stream since 1999 in all manner of incarnations from the sublime to the ridiculous, and are currently honed down to a 4-piece rock and rock outfit.
They have just released the pretty amazing 'It's Time' single which features a remix by Twitch from Optimo. It a bonkers mix of psychedelic mayhem and swirling kalidiscopic sounds. Think Sun Ra crash landing at an orbital rave and jamming with KLF, only weirder!

Could be the future of pop music
    Steve Lamacq

...the maverick spirit of Krautrock...exists elsewhere... the likes of Liars, The Boredoms, Animal Collective, Black Dice, Lightning Bolt and They Came From The Stars I Saw Them are pushing the boundaries in a way that would please the old guard.

"utterley entrancing...this is the Beta Band, times twenty"

...this could be a posse of Clangers let loose in the studio with hallucinogens, plastic recorders, and a mic pointed at the cosmic vortex
    Sleaze Nation

    Beautiful, poetic, creeping chaos
    S.O.T.M. Bizzarre Magazine

Probably the U.Ks most pretentious band (they have worked very hard for the title)....As individual as a snowflake!

    DEEP BURIAL
Deep Burial was started 10 years ago. The idea was to make instrumental hip hop, making up for the fact that we didn't have Raekwon or Mobb Deep to rhyme on our beats by making the music more rugged and angular. To attempt this most of the digging for samples was done in the Punk/New Wave/Noise section. Whether the idea was achieved or not it resulted in a split 12" with Decal and an album on Ultramack called Blood Samples, the title of which was a phrase which sprang out of a Chino XL song and seemed to sum up the feel of the album.

The next couple of years were spent writing, digging and playing some live sets. It was early 1999. We were watching a lot of zombie movies. What better type of movie to watch in the middle of Celtic Tiger frenzy when the whole country turned into money munching zombies. Yes you, you ****er! Anyway enough politics, we decided to start work on an EP based on the films and started to dig for appropriate sounds and samples. It helped that our friend seemed to be involved in some bizarre underground zombie VHS ring and passed them all on to us in all their hissy glory. The EP came out in 2001 and was called the Undead.

Since then we've been digging for more samples and putting together the album we've just finished. It's called Black Music and we're prouder of this than anything else we've done.
