    I have been receiving spam emails of this sort for the past months. They don't advertise or ask me to sign up to anything, so what is the point?

    its thought they're being sent out to confuse spam filters and screw with their bayesian recognition techniques.

    very often they include an image. the text is just there to confuse the spam filter, the image contains the ad for viagra or whatever.

    True, I've had a noticable increase in my spam mail in the last 2 weeks. Thankfully 95% of it gets caught ! And false positives are a rarity!

    me = happy camper !

    Ok - makes sense. I do get a few to my non work email addresses with text plus images.

    I read the above email three times this morning, some nice quotes in there - thanks Mr.Spam Merchant.
