I currently have have a subscription to your basic Sky Sat. I want to be able to watch TV in my bedroom and since I live in the middle of nowhere the aerial reception is nil.

Do I REALLY have to purchase multi room and pay the extra charge? I have seen several other devices at hardware shops and Maplins that claim to pick up the signal from the original box and transmit the signal to my small tv in my bedroom...do any of these work?

Im a newcomer to Ireland so please be kind/patient. Also non techie.....

    Would appreciate advice/assistance.

    ;)

Yes, they work fine. I'm looking at tv upstairs right now with one I got in lidl a long while ago. You can even change channels upstairs.
There can be some interference with 'people movement', but this shouldn't be a problem if you're in bed (ahem!), not sure if this interference is improved upon if you get a more expensive one.
Argos have the choice of a few as well, and they've come down in price there.

I have a digi eye connected to the TV in my bedroom. They installed it at the same time as the sky and they gave me a second remote as well. It allows me to watch and control the sky box from the TV upstairs. I have seen them in B&Q for about €30 but u might need someone who installs sky to connect it.

Not nessesarly. Just run a coax feed from the digibox from RF2 to the receiving tv and then connect the eye to control it.
