Got a replacement 360 recently and the new one has scratched my GOW disc.

It seems to have put 5 scratches in a circle about an inch out from the center and now Im getting "Can not read disk" errors.

Anyone elses 360 damage disks like this? Also do MS replace the discs?

did you move your console while playing?dont have a 360 myself but the same thing happened to one of my ps2 games when i moved the console while the disk was spinning.

No, i did move it powered off however I thought this was safe since I had read moving it powered on was a big no no.

Maybe that still scratched it? grrr

When mine was returned from Das Fatherland I noticed that they did change the disk drive. I have a few problems where it stops spinning and then can't read the disk. I'll grab the HD drive when it comes out and hopefully I won't have to use the internal drive. Unless, that is, you can't run games from the HD disk drive???

My old one used to do that a lot but it never scratched a disc.
I just checked the disc there and i think the scratches have gotten longer - they are in the exact same part of the disc in a circle

Must be touching something on the drive.

afaik you still have to load them into the main tray to play games. the hd add-on is just for hd-dvds themselves

I think Mayhem is right. Get onto MS. Its one of there games and its their console that damaged it. Ask for another copy to be sent out.

is your console standing up straight or flat?

^^ Good question, what way are your consoles? Mine's vertical, looks odd laying flat.

It's those callous Germans taking vengeance for GoW being banned over there :p

Speaking of which, how long did it take your console to be returned? 2 working weeks and waiting for me....

The console had a warning on it to never move the xbox with a disc in the drive. I doubt this would have caused a rings on the disc though.

My Dead or Alive 3 disc is slightly fragmented around the hole in the middle of the disc. Always been careful not to move the console. It still works though.
