Universial Sound Driver?

    Howdi ho,
    I have recently reinstalled windows on my system and i need to get my sound back up and running. I have an ASUS A7V8X mobo but the audio drivers from the ASUS website for that mobo aren't working for some reason. I have installed the latest drivers and the drivers prior to that, i have also updated the bios but none of that worked.

    I downloaded the Realtek '97 audio drivers thinking that they are a universial driver for sound and work with pretty much every mobo out there but the pc reboots half way thru the installation and of course fails to install the driver.

    So...are there any other drivers out there that will work with my mobo?
    I'm on XPproSP2
