You may or may not regard this as a bargain, but it's certainly a considerable mark-down on the original sale price. They are available in black or white, and shipping is free.

    Go to

    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/irlstore

Scroll down and click on the "refurbished products" link at the bottom right of the page.

Then click on the "Apple Refurb (iPod)" tab.

These are refurbished items but you're buying them direct from Apple and you get a one-year limited warranty. Check the website for details.

PS: I don't work for Apple or have any connections with the company. Apart from having an iMac...

Yep apple done sell 60gb's anymore just the 30 and 80.

Except the ones they're selling on their refurb store :)

They are the earlier model, but if you want storage capacity then at €249 for 60GB they represent pretty good value even when compared with the new models.

As far as I can tell, the warranty on Apple's refurb items is the same as on their new items. The refurbs might have slight cosmetic flaws but they should work fine. The ondaymobile price looks good, too, though the shipping brings it up to an extra €30 rather than just €10. They're better than play.com, who appear to want €344.99 for the same model. Ouch.

Anyone have any experience of buying from the refurb store?

Just as comparison- the cheapest I can find the 80gig one is at Dabs.com for appx €338. Havent bought off the refurb site before but it has the years warranty so its not too bad....

Would you know what the price would be in New York?
Looking at going in January on a short break but I understand that the price is exclusive of sales tax. Never been to the USA so not too sure

Apple have a "world price" plicy, so there will rarely be much of a price difference between different countries.

Price in New York for 80GB is $349 + sales tax @ 12.5%
Price in Dublin is €329 + VAT

Saving is about 10% - not worth the hassle of have US socket and recharger. - Also there's hassle with having warranties honoured on non-eu product.

you'll save a good chunk on the 80GB ipod from Ebay! That's a nice price for the 60GB though. That extra 20GB is just too tempting to make me go for the 60GB though.

I've just bought one on Amazon and had it shipped to the hotel I'm staying in. This way I avoid the sales tax.

Worked out at €263 for the 80GB version, compared to €399 here.

    http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Apple

You can get an 80 gig video one from mymemory for €311 and a 30 gig for €220. They don't charge VAT as they are based in Jersey, I got a 30 gig one delivered yesterday. Don't be discouraged until you log in your details and it recognises that you are in Ireland, the VAT is then removed and you'll save a few bob. I know the 30 gig retails at €289. I ordered mine on Wednesday and it arrived yesterday, free postage. These are brand new, video versions. I suppose you may have to run the gauntlet of your postie, but this was the sixth time I ordered stuff off them and never had an issue before.
