Another Bass thread

I'm getting the urge to change basses.

I have a musicman stingray 5 which I got new just over a year ago.
It's a lovely guitar and I've never really seen anyone dis the MM's but I just don't think it's for me.

I think I'd be happier with something else. Gonna take a bit more time deciding on the next one. Seem's to be a fair few bass-heads here who could maybe offer some advice!

I like the look of the warwick basses, notably the warwick corvette. Gonna stick with a 5 string aswell now that I'm used to it.
Do any Dublin shops stock warwick basses?
I'm thinking about buying this one in a store here but I presume I'll get shafted on price compared to the web. If it's not a huge difference I think it would be worth it if I can be sure I want the one I'm holding in my hand.

Any other types of basses you'd recommend?
Cort one's look nice, don't know much about them. Might consider a fender J or P-bass.

I play fingerstyle, with some slap/pop.
Love a nice ring and reverb to the notes.
Don't play metel or heavy bass, just like to listen to it!
More soul, funk, jazz, reggae style sound.

Never been to big on the technicalities, just enjoy playing it, think I need to get to know a bit more if I want to find the right bass for me.

Enter Bacchus as the keyword and hit enter. One of the best bass manufacturers there is, but without the designer price tag.

What is it about the Stingray 5 that you don't like?

Out of curiosity, how much would you be looking to get for the Stringray?

What is it I don't like?
Hmm, hard to pinpoint, but I just don't get the right feeling when I pick it up and play it!
It sounds kinda dead to me, maybe I haven't found the right setup.
I've tried different strings but it always goes back to the same kinda dull sound. I want a sharp ring but where you can still feel the bass in it.
The fret separators seem too prominant and make the action seem higher, I prefer a smoother glide between them.

I have an old fender jazz special, got it for about £200 and I nearly prefer playing it, I can work my way around the fretboard much easier and slapping on it sounds so much better.

Bacchus looks nice alright, japenese make?
What's the dealio with that ishibashi site, there seems to be a few fans of it here. Prices good?
How is it for shipping over to Ireland?

Before you sell the Stingray, get a set of Dean Markley SR2000 strings. They should add a bit of zing to your sound.

Where might I get those strings?
Haven't used Dean Markley's on my bass yet so worth a try.

Karl - Haven't thought about sale price yet.
If I do decide to put it up, I'll get in touch.

You can't really go wrong with a fender jazz - Looks/sounds great and a very playable neck. What more do you need?

Never seen the Schecter Stiletto before.
Looks like a decent bass, checked a few reviews online, I'll keep it in mind.

    Patricide
Might be worth having a chat and maybe meeting up sometime, see if we're both up for a trade. Not sure they'll be evenly valued but we can sort it out if we're both up for it.
