Got sick of the job im in (6 years), have found another full time job now that im not so sure about but id like to give it a go. I handed in my notice two weeks ago.
My current employer has asked if anything can be done to help like better hours etc. I said not really. They then said they could keep the job open incase i wanted to go back, i said that would be helpful. But now they have me on permanent unpaid leave.
Does anyone know if this means that I wont get a p45 and be able to get proper tax in my new job cos i would still be working for them? Can I get another full time job if im still on their books?
I do know people who left for a year and came back but havent been able to contact them to see how they did it.

I'm open to correction on this, but I don't think one can take leave of absense and work for someone else in the same country.

Could you not send a letter of resignation to your current employer and get youe P45. If they are keen to retain you, I'm sure they will have no problem reemploying you at a later stage.
