Is Meteor's network EDGE enabled already?

Just got a Samsung E370 which is EDGE enabled. Sometimes when I connect to WAP a little 'E' symbol appears at the top of the screen much like the 'G' symbol that you'd normally expect to see for GPRS handsets. Does anyone know anything about this??

I have an Edge "E" symbol all the time just above the bar which shows the signal strength. What is EDGE enabled anyway?

EDGE is GSM Evolution, and generally classified as a 2.75G technology. In the US, they sometime claim it's a 3G technology.

"EDGE can carry data speeds up to 236.8 kbit/s for 4 timeslots (theoretical maximum is 473.6 kbit/s for 8 timeslots) in packet mode and will therefore meet the International Telecommunications Union's requirement for a 3G network, and has been accepted by the ITU as part of the IMT-2000 family of 3G standards."
