losing reception when raining

    Hi,
The last couple of weeks when it starts to rain I have been losing the reception from my Sky dish. As soon as the rain stops reception comes back absolutely fine. Have checked all connections - seem fine - I resealed with tape to make sure no water was getting into the cable. Not a good situation to be in in Ireland in the winter time! Don't want to get a satellite guy out but looks like I'll have to to get it sorted. Any advice and info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I get the exact same thing, although it's not just when it rains. If there's strong wind, really bright sun, or generally any sort of unusual weather the signal drops right down. I also checked the connection to make sure there was no water getting in, but it all looks good. So I really don't know what the best thing to do is; the same thing happens at my parents place, and they did get the sky guy out about it. He checked the dish alignment and everything and just said it could be due to trees or something blocking the signal, or atmospheric interference, which just made me think he didn't know what the problem was........
