Thinking of buying a 03 C220 CDI automatic next year.Anybody any experiences of them good or bad? I've heard bad reliabilty reports from the media. What are they like on diesel?

    Thanks

The C-Class was revised in late '03 and this is a better car. there were only minor changes but apparantly it does make a difference !

I've had one of the previous square shape and two new C-Class's, a C180 and a C200K before my current CLK and never had any quality/reliabilty problems with any of them, save for a transmission oil leak on the latest car which is a know problem with the auto's and I fixed it for under €10 ! !

Anyway I would try for the later car which has the flatter switchgear on the centre console and CLK/E-Class type dash cluster, this has revised steering geometry and one or two other changes. Try and get leather interior too !
