Where did you hear that? I suppose the issue here is that Three is a 3G operator, and most people don't have 3G phones. They thought it would cause confusion for people if they offered SIM cards only. E.g. John Smith buys a Three SIM card, than finds out that it doesn't work in his existing phone. John Smith is now really, really disappointed and tells all his friends about how crap Three is.

    Just a thought. :)

They won't be providing them very soon as far as I know, however they are starting to offer offering 3Pay SIM to pay monthly customers that are canceling their contracts.

That way Three get to keep the person as a customer and the person has a 3G phone, plus as with all providers Three will make plenty of money off them on their PAYG package :)

    Everyone is happy.

i personally can't see it happening soon
id bet we will have the walled garden down before this so don't hold your breath
their fast in some way e.g reducing prices, opening stores and rolling out 3G coverage
but their very slow at other things:e.g releasing new services like updating planted 3 etc

They do, but only through 3 stores. Perhaps when 3 stores open here. Apparently they'll only sell them to work in an "authorised" Three handset.

There's a number of them open already in Dublin and even one in Waterford
SIM cards only are NOT available from these stores at present

The one in Henry St isn't open yet but must be soon, the amount of work that's going on.

I don't think there's any others in Dublin yet either. Cork and Waterford are the only two they've opened....
