    Hi

I am looking for one of these for the GF for Chrimbo. She is on Vodafone but Vodafone don't sell these phones (yet).

Cheapest I can find is €200....I think they are going for €130 on the O2 site but that is no use to me!

Anyone see these for lest than €200?

    Cheers

    Mick

They are on the new BB5 thing which means that the network can only unlock them. No shops can do it for you.

I've just unlocked a 6111 which was bought 2 days on an O2 Ireland upgrade from carphone warehouse. Just used the calculator here entered the following:

    Network Ireland- Esat Digifone
    Gen Asic 6
    Nokia Model Asic 6

and then entered the first code on the list - worked first time. I read somewhere on the net that the 7th code is the next one to try. Don't forget you only have 5 goes!

I got a 6111 here on boards about 2 months ago for €150. A member here was nice enough to get it on upgrade for me and I bought it off them.

And yes they can be easily unlocked as digitaldr pointed out. You only have 3 unlock chances with Nokia phones with new firmware since the Nokia 6230i was released. Use ASIC 6 everytime with code 1 and it will unlock first time, guaranteed ;)

excuse my ignorance but did you get it working on vodafone then?

And where/when do you enter the code on the phone?

Yeah it'll work on any network once you unlock it.

    You can enter the code two possible ways;

    1. Put a foreign sim card in the phone and enter the code as the restriction code.
    2. Turn the phone on with no sim and and just enter the code.

It's not that difficult (can be a bit nerve wracking though!) just be sure to follow the instructions carefully and treble check the imei and code. I tried it with a vodafone sim and it worked perfectly.

Sorry, where is the option for the 6111?

Asic 6 is for the 6111 I'd imagine...

Yeah feylya's right - there is no option for the 6111 just choose asic 6 in the Gen and Nokia Model boxes. Or if you've lost your nerve you could always get it done on Moore St (I wonder how they do it) for €20 like I did before I discovered unlock.nokiafree.org!
