Bringing a car in from England

Someone mentioned this to me and i never really thought about it. Is it much hassle.

I had a look on the autotrader UK site and i could pick up the car im after (mazda 323F) for about 800 pounds sterling for a decent one. Which roughly id say works out at 1150 euro. The price of a ncie one here is about 2500euro.

How much is the VRT likely to be? The calculator on the revenue site doesnt work

How much would the boat trip cost?
Id have to buy a car around hollyhead or liverpool cos theres no way we could drive anywhere like London. Thats very restricting.

Anything else to look out for?

Is it really worth doing it on a car only worth a few grand?

    any past experiences/hints/advice?

What about driving over the border? Plenty of nice cars up there, and as it's so easy to get to, you won't feel under as much pressure to buy as you would across the water. Just be a bit careful whereabouts you go to! Newry is nice; Portadown (for example) is 'not so nice'!
