I want to connect my tv to my computer so I can play movies on it. I Have a Radeon X300 SE Video Card. It has a S-Video port but my tv only has an aerial and scart.

Could someone please tell me what way is best to set this up, using what converter etc.

    Much appreciated,
    Steve

I run a lot of video off my Inspiron 8600. I got an adapter from dell that plugs into the s-video out and converts it in a scart socket. So grab yourself something like this

and then a regular s-video cable

    svideo.jpg

and you'll get the video from your laptop into your TV.

If you want to get sounds from laptop to the TV then you can use one of these a phono to minijack cable,

140_thumb.jpg to send the audio from your laptop's headphone jack into the scart adapter (the first picture above) in your TV.

Easiest way to get this to show up is to restart your computer with everything hooked up, or sometimes Fn + F8 will work, but not always. Alternatively (and this will be different depending on your video card), you can right-click on your desktop, go to properties, go into display settings and hit advanced and then find the relevant tab (mine is Displays) to see the different output options. You can set what you want your primary source of video to be, which means any video playing on your laptop will automatically play fullscreen on the secondary display device; the TV.

    Hope this helps!
