    Hi all
I need some help to solve this problem.
I have a Dell inspiron 1300 i bought only a few months ago in the last two weeks i have had this problem of when i turn on my the laptop it loads up to the windows desktop but there is no windows start button on the screen or is there any of the icons there either. With a reboot of the system by holding down the on button it might come back to normal but it could take 2 reboots like this to get the start screen to appear. Can anyone help me with this problem. I have it password protected and i am using windows xp on the laptop.

    Thanks for help in advance

try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del...go to processes and see if explorer.exe is running...if it isn't, click file and then new task and type explorer.exe...this should bring back your desktop icons and taskbar...I'm not sure how to fix it so that it runs on startup though...I had the very same problem a few days ago with a brand new acer aspire laptop and I had to restore it to a recent restore point to solve the problem.
