    1. Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

(bear in mind this 'The BEST Band Names thread' not the 'The Funniest/Weirdest Band Names thread' so no "Biff Hitler and the Violent Mood Swings" or "Interspecies Love Child " offerings thank you.

The Postal Service - amazing band and a cool name with a story behind it:
The project began when L.A. resident Jimmy Tamborello asked Seattleite Ben Gibbard to lay down some vocals for a track on the 2001 Dntel album Life Is Full of Possibilities. It worked out so well, the two agreed to cut an album together… but separately. Every few months Tamborello sent a CDR loaded with his electronic wizardry to Gibbard, who added melodies, lyrics and a few other touches.

The final product is the Postal Service's debut CD, Give Up, released by Sub Pop Records in February 2003.

    13th Floor Elevators

I love the story behind it (that many high buildings supposedly do not have 13th floors cos of superstition)

I quite like the names of a lot of emo bands even if the music is sh*t.

    My Chemical Romance
    Bullet for my Valentine
    Funeral for a Friend, etc

Pighead quite likes the Super Furry Animals and Velvet Underground as band names. One that always makes me cringe though is The Dandy Warhols. Eugh!

I love the name And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead but I hate their music. The Flaming Lips is a great name too (but I love their music). Anal C*nt is great for the pure offensiveness of it.
