great to see tigh back, i was getting worried that he was heading for an out of airlock experience

    nice character episode, except for
if the cylons knew where the fleet was, why bother sending bulldog back, why not jump in with a dozen basestars instead

With reference to the bedroom scene on the Cylon base ship...

    ...I hate Baltar. Bastard.

    Yes, I'm bitter

that bedroom scene was amazing so ****ing funny
anyway that episode was absolutely amazing and once again shows the cylons intelligence at manipulation. Not enough basestar in this episode tho but i relay enjoyed the scene with three as Deana buoras on the battleship getting shot.
I was kinda thing he would stay around as an ace pilot but im sure he will be back.

    10/10

I have to agree with Nuttzz - the logic of that plot was a bit on the ropey side.

Still - nice to see the
cylon exploration of life and death
    is progressing nicely :)

Even allowing for some plot issues this ep was worth it (and I think directed by Eddie O); it kept that trademark emotional punch and did some nice irony on the whole
medal in the present vs accountability for the past
    .

Enjoyable as ever, but let's get back to the cylons and what makes 'em tick. More Baltar I say. More Chip-Six in some revealing clothing please

Decent enough episode, aforementioned plot-holes above notwithstanding.

Where in the blue hell is Dean Stockwell's character, though? We haven't seen him since, what, the 2nd episode this season?

The next episode looks to be an interesting one. It'll be about what happened during the year long gap that occurred in the season 2 finale.

Can't wait. We'll probably find out why Starbuck and Lee hated each other, amongst other things. And how Tigh's lost his eye.

Yea, that's a bit annoying. I'm sure it's just a case of not being able to get the actor, rather than all the Stockwell-bots being off doing something. The producers created a bit of a problem for themselves when they told us there's supposed to be countless numbers of each Cylon model... we should really be seeing lots of every model.

Very good episode anyway, nice character stuff and interesting backstorys. Tigh finally got his eye-patch :D (although it's a bit of a boring flesh colour).

I thought the guy in the Raider at the start (who turned out to be Bulldog) said "it's Baltar" over the radio, was sort of disappointed when it wasn't him. And did they blank out a word or two of Adama's when he was chatting with Bulldog?

    .

Well, no need for me to watch that one, then. What happened to the great spoiler tag debate  ?

Great ep IMHO. Didn't see any of it coming at all, except for Tigh and/or Starbuck showing up to save Adama and predictable as that was it still lead to a great scene with Adama, Tigh and Bulldog, each of them totally fncked-up in their own ways, and still getting it together.

I hope that there will be a much fuller ... shall we say exploration of the Xena/Six/Balthar carry-on. **drools**

    Brilliant episode .
After the lull of the last 2 episodes it was back to the high standard we have come to expect.
A few minor plot holes but I really enjoyed that episode.

In previous episodes it was mentioned that resources where tight. Over the last few episodes they have lsot what 3? 4? base ships. Maybe they don't have a dozen to risk.

Secondly, nothing to stay that they wouldn't have just jumped away the minute the base ships jumped in. We've seen this before. They wanted adama dead, adn this was a good way to do it.

    4th episode this season

and Tigh lost his eye during a cylon interrogation - not much more to it

Was expecting a black patch as well

And it didn't black out any of adamas words maybe the version you got had some sort of encoding error?

Yes, I think we are all forgetting that it is a different branch of cylons in charge now with a different set of morals and a different gameplan.

They've already demonstrated they dont want to wipe out the humans, they watn to manipulate and control them more easily. And I think Adama's rescue of the rest of the human fleet proves that he is a big hindrance to this, hence this particular episode.

So yeah, I really (note User45701 thats how the word is spelt) enjoyed this episode. And I was quite grateful that it wasnt Baltar in the raider, though my spider senses tell me that that was what the writers wanted. A momentary sense that Baltar was the one in the raider and the confusion when he wasnt.

My reason for not wanting Baltar to be in the raider is because I think his particularly storyline is too interesting where he is and it would just turn into a witch trial if/when he gets back to the human fleet.

im using the spell check in firefox but i will try to remember the two ll`s cheers

I just hope we find out before season 4 what happened with regards to the split in the cylons. Also if there has been a split im guessing that the 7 might only have the single resurrection ship and it would explain why they want to find earth as there new home as well

First comment in a BSG discussion thread.. woot! \o/

Anyways, it was quite a good episode.

I thought "it's Baltar" came over the radio at the start too.. and the fact it was a Cylon ship confirmed my suspicions even more. But nooo.. bit of a disappointment in that!

Which begs the question i'm most interested in.. do we think the crew will ever let Baltar back on the ship? For ease of an ongoing storyline, i'd imagine they'll have to.. but can't wait to see the reception he recieves.

The episode did definitely have it's in-accuracies and quibbies, as mentioned.

    Enjoyable enough all the same.

Its aready been mentioned that the reason the cylons arnt mounting a major assault is because they had limited recorces while on planet and have since lost 4 basestars and i think they might only have 4 left.

Welcome to the BSG forum basquille.
I was really hoping for a massive black eye patch too, really disapointed with the tampon Tigh is wearing over his eye. Other than that it was a fantastic episode.

The group that was garrisoning New Caprica certainly had limited resources. But I'm not sure its been established that that group is now the only group of Cylons following the human fleet. Are they not in communication with the rest of Cylon society? Can they not get re-inforcements for some reason?

im going on the assumption that they have separated themselves from the cylon homeworld, i don't know if there was a cylon cival war but i do think that there was a disagreement the 7 agreed that the slaughter of mankind was a mistake and im guessing that the 5 want to destroy humanity

Also im assuming that the 5 are still coming after the fleet.

but six did say we don't talk about the other 5

And there where a few references to being low on resources there where 3 basestars lost at caprica and one more from the virus so that means that the 7 only have 4 basestars and 1 resurrection ship, assuming that the fleet we saw was all they had

I thought the patch was gold. Such is the crapness of the picture quality from my American cousins. :(

Still...I thought it looked pretty good on him. :) Good to see more of Tigh. Though the episode was a bit "meh" overall. In fact, I think season 3 has been a bit "meh" overall compared to the first two seasons.

Yeah, would have to agree with Khannie. Especially thought the first two episodes on New Caprica were particularly weak.

With the 'Exodus - Part 1 / Part 2' episodes being the best of the bunch.

Count me as another one who heard "It's Baltar" and was disappointed to find that it was only Dixon from "Alias".

Really enjoyed the episode (again) - Adama's admission to instigating the war reminded me of a similiar plotline in B5 but I really liked how that tough-nut Roslin handled it.

Also liked how Xenlon talked about the joys of suicide - isn't this a cheery program? Loved how she appeared in the hall that was, IIRC, last scene in the S1 finale where Six and Baltar found their "child".

That's WHO it was.... i kept thinking it was Keith David the whole way through and missed the "Carl Lumbly" credit at the start!

Ye but from the look on the other Deanas face i got a feeling that they would "box" her for being so..... not cylon, that was what they wanted to do with boomer a while back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,286 ✭✭✭Talisman

Clean your ears - definitely said "It's Bulldog". :)

The Cylons have known where the fleet was all along except when they moved into orbit around New Caprica - The Cylons learned of the location when Six detonated the nuke on board her ship. In 33, the Cylons were toying with the fleet jumping in 33 minutes after every jump the fleet did and in the episode Pegasus, Admiral Cain made the reference to the Cylons herding the fleet and the Pegasus was able to plot a few jumps ahead of them. The only plot hole in the episode was how Bulldog knew where to find the fleet, unless the Raider had been programmed to jump to that location.

I thought that it was interesting that Adama's previous command was the Valkyrie (Norse mythology) which is a departure from the Greek mythology of the Colonials.

EDIT: Just had a thought after reading the spoiler tag references to the original series thread: The White entity that D'Anna Biers/Number Three meets in the sequence before she downloads could be like the white entities from the original series. I can't remember what they were called something like Seryphs and their purpose was never fully explained.

Yeah, same spot. I wondered about its significance in her death sequence. Maybe it's the local opera house....maybe there's something deeper to it.

Not my favorite episode. Season 3 has been spectacular until now and I knew it couldn't continue to get better. Still, I enjoyed it, BSG has been one of the best shows I've ever watched.:D

An alright episode. Watchable but nothing exactly memorable. I assumed Bulldog was allowed escape by the Cylons rather then they jump to the positions themselves as seeing as they've no longer committed themselves to destroying the human race, there would be no point engaging in a battle with the Galactica really...

What did everyone think about the 'they struck us before we could strike them' relevation? I thought it was very interesting, surprised hasn't been commented on before.

I assumed Xenlon let herself be killed given her fascination with what's between death and being downloaded.

I don't think it was the same Xenlon that had the fascination with life and death. (That Xenlon was on the Caprica Six/Baltar basestar). I think the Xenlon in question allowed herself to be killed by Bulldog because she was one of the sicker cylons and was willing to be put out of her misery.
