I agree with the last sentence. That's about it. Nothing worng with a bit of pride and passion.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

It does sound a bit weird all right but he is obviously a huge u2 fan. People have queued for longer to see star wars movies and stuff so hes not alone.

That's fairly sad alright, it's not like they've even put out anything that great since Achtung baby...

Having said that, I'll be one of the first people in line for the Nintendo Wii on the 8th:p

It has just become habit forming at this stage. Not something he can give up too easily.

If it were a new album with new songs fair enough ,but is it not just a bunch of already released songs?

Some would call it devotion, and respect. I dont follow football, nor am I a fan of any particular music artist. I see it as no stranger than somebody painting their face in team colours, and buying season tickets for a football team that is situated in another country.

No - having a season ticket/painting face etc is the same as going to loads of U.2. gigs even if they are abroad. Thats fine - whatever you are in to. Its the obsessive queuing I don't get. Personally I would want some football/GAA, the odd U.2 gig, week in the sun, books, cinema, other music etc. Love U.2 - but there are other things in the world. Plus the notion of queueing for anything which you can just walk in to a shop and buy is such a waste of your short life.

Umm they got stuff you can't buy ANYWHERE in the world for queuing. A special hoody and a few other things. Good for fans. I think U2 made an appearance on Friday too.

Lol, waiting in a queue for days for a "best of" album and then booking into a hotel to listen to it...how sad.

So THAT's what those giant head things were doing outside HMV yesterday. I was busy hurrying to Bond.

    Silly people.

I suppose The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby is a good start.

Ah, sure if it were Queen (my favourite band) I would be doing the same. Each to their own. U2 are actually my second favourite band I love em but wouldn't go that far - just for a best of album. That said, I wish I went to their signing. I heard about it in the paper but if I knew they were doing the signing in easons I would've qued meself.

Bit sad. Isn't it just a best of album?

I've never queued to buy anything like that... It's one thing if it's for tickets or something, but in the unlikely event that HMV run out of the CD, they WILL be getting it back in stock.

    Have patience.

Would you have queued for days though? For a few free "one of a kind" items?
I can't imagine how horrible it must have been sitting outside HMV, the nights have been freezing lately and we had a whole day of rain...I'm sick and I was indoors for most of the week :( I blame wandering around town looking for a taxi the nights I was out this week...

I can't understand what has people out in the cold waiting for days though, I'm a huge fan of some bands but theres no way in hell I'd do it.

Even if by some miracle they did run out, theres still hundreds of other places you could get it!

The most extreme thing I've done for tickets or anything was going in to town at 4am with some friends to queue for Slane and Witness, which is nothing compared to the lengths some people have went through.

I am a massive, massive fan of Queen so I would say yes! :)

I might be a bit biased though because I'm too young to have seen them live, or even recognise them as a working band. Freddie Mercury died 2 monthes after I was born.

But even still, if it was something I was passionate about. Some people are passionate about GAA, some for Manchester United, some for McFly (though I cant understand it) just as some are for U2. I am for Queen!

And as for the rough nights - I think it would be a great experiance! It would be like camping! hahaha :)

Hope you get better by the way, I seem to go from one cold to the next so I know how ya feel. I'm always sick!!

I can't understand the McFly thing either, what exactly do people see in them?!Maybe its just the young kids. Even Busted were better than McFly and thats saying a lot!

I don't think I could let myself go asleep on Grafton Street tbh, God only knows what could happen to you considering the amount of scum lurking around the city at night.

Ah thanks :) Yeah its miserable alright, though I've only myself to blame, was out a few nights this week and wasn't dressed warm enough to be walking around looking for a taxi after :(

I wonder does that 40 year old who camped out for the U2 stuff have a family...I can't imagine a wife and kids being too happy that their father/husband was going to sit out on the streets of Dublin city for a few nights for a CD!

The U2 album is also out on vinyl.

    Maybe he was buying that?

I dunno. It's awfully cold out nowadays and U2 aren't that good.
