Burtonpower.com is an excellent site for ford tuning products, they provide an excellent mail order parts service, they even give do an article containing most of the information about each of the main ford petrol engines, including the 3 litre exxex complete with history and a guide to tuning.
They have a big list of engine dressing components and tuning parts from rocker covers to throttlebody conversions.
I suggest you have a look at that site, it really is damn good.

    www.capriracing.co.uk/forum

also that site has a forum in which you'll find some serious knowlege about essex V6's . It's a Site based around Capris but they'll have no problem helping you i'd say

Meant to add in there that a Haynes Manual for a 3litre capri/MKI Granada will be invaluable to you for info on taking it apart and putting it back together

They are a preety easy engine to work on. I stripped and rebuilt the top end on mine and I'd never gone near an engine before. If yours has the original fibre or nylon timing gear you can upgrade to a more reliable steel one.
John Wade developments (UK) is the place to get your bits from he is the Jedi master of the essex.Where are you based I have some magazine articles, manuals etc that would be helpfull.Another tip is to replace the W shaped mixture divertor plate in the inlet manifold with Alan Deans stanless gauzes. http://www.donkennedy.co.uk/Gauze.htm
If you sign up with the yahoo groups scimitar forum you'll get his details there.http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ReliantScimitar/
The scimitar world in general is a good source of info on these engines.
Some folks have squeezed 300+HP out of these engines!!

I don’t know if you interested but most of the ford transit ambulances up into the late eighties had the Essex V6 converted to LPG, might be worth looking into seeing if you could get your hands on one cheep. I did, mind you I still haven’t gotten around to talking it out yet, its been sitting at the top of the garden used as a storage shed for the last 7 years  .There is a place in Navan that deals in crashed and decommissioned ambulances.

If anyone has an original pan style aircleaner housing for one of these I'm looking for one.
