Paying tax on stuff bought on ebay

    Was about to buy a camera on ebay and was wondering if it gets shipped from the US do you get done for tax or Vat when it arrives here?

    You're meant to get taxed... However, if the seller is bold and changes the description, value and marks it as a gift...
    This is, of course, illegal and not recommended.

    What's the value of the camera?

    I've found it all depends on the method of shipping...courier companies invaribaly end up declaring stuff and sticking on a handling charge....post offices less so. although as far as I can see lately they're opening a lot of parcels that come into the country from outside the EU.

    I'd say with something like a digicam, you're more likely than not to get hit since most sellers will use a signed for service.
