Best site for DVD box sets

Sorry, this has probably come up before but I just wanted to ask what are the good sites to buy DVDs off. I'm looking for a bargain on Scrubs Seasons 1, 2 or 3. Currently looking on eBay and I might bid on some stuff there but I'm always paranoid that people are trying to scam me which is probably true.

I'm in Ireland so that is region 2 isn't it? (also want to clear that up)

    Hi

Have a look at find-dvd.co.uk to search for cheapest prices. Also have a look at othe similar search pages on
    Online DVD Comparison Sites R1/2/3/4

Beware of fakes in ebay, check the feedback or buy from "shops" sellers.

    Regards

Look at Play.com if you haven't already, they have deals on boxsets every so often.

Cheers - will do! I've had a look through the 'how to avoid scams on eBay' thread, and the guy I'm buying off (well I'm bidding at the mo) seems to be a good seller. Almost 100% positive feedback and has an eBay shop. Sent him a message asking whether the boxset is factory sealed and if it's on blank dvds or not but it seems to be just as it is - as I would buy in the local music shop. So here's hoping...! I'll check out those sites.

    Thanks

When you think you are ready to buy an item on ebay, post the item number here, the guys (Ruu & Basquille) are good at spotting scams.
You will get some opinions worth looking at.
And as always, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is ;)

hmv.co.uk are sometimes good for boxsets, even with the extra for shipping.

eBay is annoying now because people keep outbidding me!

So I'm going for a buy it now item! Is 26euro (incld postage) a good deal for season1 of scrubs? I know it's probably cheaper than in the shops (though I haven't seen scrubs dvds in the shops! only season 4...) and I'm not greedy, but should I look for something cheaper?

It's 7.50pounds sterling for postage!! grr..

Season 1 of Scrubs for 25.49 eurons with free delivery.:) I moved this to Bargain Alerts so maybe someone can get it cheaper still for you. Yeah Region 2 is Europe, thats what you are after. Your DVD player might be region free anyway but thats for another day.

Thanks so much for pointing that out, I think I'll go for it......should I? I'm always nervous buying off the internet. Is it safe?

Ah, I'll just go for it - and buy season 2 with it. Cheers!

Thanks I just finished paying! I've heard of cdwow but I never actually took the time to look through it and there's some amazing deals. I've been told never to go for the 'too good to be true' offers, which these seem to be! I bought scrubs season 1 and 2 for just under 40euro! It was hard not to add more stuff to the cart as well! Very good deals.

    That's reassuring. :)

How can cdwow afford to sell them at that price? In the shops it's like 40euro for one boxset?

I can't remember when I bought a CD or DVD offline before. :) I find HMV horribly expensive. I think CD WOW source alot of their stuff from Asia.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,026 ✭✭✭Killaqueen!!!

Well thats not good....I don't trust buying dvds from Asia :p

Ah well it's all paid for now.

They're not actually TOO cheap, there was just a good deal on the Scrubs dvds at the mo. Lost boxsets are 60euro, which is still a good deal compared to the 70euro in shops.

Still, new release cds for a tenner cant go wrong there. Hopefully the stuff will arrive quickly

It's the old adage Killaqueen..it pays to shop around. I wouldn't totally dismiss bricks and mortar sellers either. I've gotten some great bargains in the HMV and Virgin sales in the past that were cheaper than anything online. Just have to keep checking their sale prices. I think they do react to online prices more these days..they have to

Online it is doubly important to shop around, cos sometimes as you'll see there can be a big difference on individual items at different online stores. I don't think any one Online supplier can claim to be the cheapest. All depends what you're looking for in my opinion :D
