Jaguar XJC on eBay in Dublin15. Who wants to share?

    Hello folks,

here is a rare sight in Ireland, a Jaguar XJC 4.2 for sale on eBay for 1 grand.

The car's body seems in poor condition which could put it beyond economical repair. I would be interested in some of the parts, like the windows, windscreens and bits and bobs and I will go and see the beast this week end.

Is there anybody else interested in a shared purchase, dismantling and dumping the body at a breakers? I guess the whole car could be bought for much less than 1 grand.

PS Sorry I cant seem to be able to insert the link...

pity about the lack of pictures, i dont know why people show so little of their cars when selling on ebay. its probably a rust bucket

He sent me a couple more pictures, I can forward to you if you are interested, but they hardly show anything more (it is a Daimler BTW). I will inspect the car Saturday morning and will let you know here if anything is salvageable. I am not optimistic...

Any follow up, Eric? Could be interested, depending.

the rot is in all the typical jaguar rust spots . it is bad but not as bad as some i've seen. it is all underneath and sills. around the windows , boot etc are solid.
i bought this car 2 years ago and it looked perfect, inside and out. i inspected fairly extensivly and found some small rot underneath but thought it would be simple to fix.
how wrong i was. i couldnt find anyone that would weld it.
    time+rain+jag = my rusty jag.
a good sorce for spare parts for those hard to find coupe bits and pieces
or resto project if you are brave. maybe worth doing as it has a big folder of history. i only put up that photo of inside as i have no digital cam and all the pics i have were before i removed bumpers so didnt want mislead anyone as to the condition.

The last thing I need is another 'project', but you have my interest... is it still on ebay/available?

If so, UK or Irish reg, mechanically good/bad, interior condition, condition of consumables - tyres, exhaust, etc...

it is still on uk plates. engine and interior are out . i was going to role it over and try weld it myself ...lol. you would really need to see it for your self to see how sorry it looks.
wheels , brakes, exhaust , lights etc were all good but jags dont sit well for long periods.

I know, I have one... similar story, but not as bad as yours sounds!

Will think about it but realistically I have my hands (and garage) full. Just a shame to see things go to scrap so if it's approaching that, let me know (PM me). If it could be saved I might attempt it.

BTW, this time of year is lousy for old cars. Horror of horrors, my old Mercedes needed a jumpstart and a long drive to come right over the weekend. This is my ex-daily driver that has never ever let me down.

Mannurse, have you found a good home yet? It would be nice to see it salvaged. I'd be happy to help whoever gets into that project!

If not, my "offer" still stands... Did you get my email?

    Cheers

Eric / all jag men out there, i have been given marching orders on the old coupe so if you or anyone you might know wants to make me an offer on it but it has to be moved before xmass, my old man is not happy, the front yard looks like a scrap yard!
    any sensible offers.
    cheers.

Ouch... when family talks, to-be-restored car walks...

I cant take the whole car, just the bits we talked about.

If worse comes to worst, I would be very happy giving you a hand to dispose of the rest if it has to come to that... :(

well... it is Jag XJC breaking season... :(

This one is a attempt at producing a Broadspeed replica, like Steed's car in the Avengers... does not even have a V5...

This one has been relisted a few times. It was also lifted with a crane and a chain, pulling the roof in the fold...

I doubt he will seel the seats only for that money... I once a bought a perfectly good full interior for a XJC... €150

Here also, only the interior is left, but at that price, there are no buyers...

The XJC market is definitely not a sellers' one... although the most uptodate worldwide inventory has registered less than 1000 viable cars left... !!!

it is always the way, !
the broadspeed replica seems like it could be a good buy to the right person. they can go for big bucks when done right.
if only i had the room!!

    ah man... dreams... ;)

It will cost a good €30,000 to restore that Broadspeed bone, assuming that the mods have been done properly, and the shell does not even have papers... :)

The Broadspeed kit costs no more than €800 in any case and a good XJ12C can be had for a handful of grand.

Nobody buys a XJC above €16,000, even a perfect original low mileage gem...

Market forces rule... sad, but this is the way things are...
