A "SKY digibox" is the only type receiver that will work with Sky subscriptions. So you'd need one of these if you want:

    -A future subscription
    -An FTV card
    -Interactive menu access

FTA receivers (not Sky branded) will pick up all the free channels, but will never be able to be used for the interactive or subscription services. However, it does have the advantage of allowing you to order the channels in any way you choose, something that is not possible with Sky Digibox.

Is your 'friend' still interesed in doing this?

I've a Sky digibox and FTA card that's valid until some time mid-'08 if you're interested.

To clarify byte's remark. A "SKY digibox" is the only type receiver that will LEGALLY work with Sky subscriptions.

You CANNOT put a Sky card into a Dreambox or Dragon CAM and get it to work. Talking of another way using the Dreambox usually implies obtaining Sky subscription services without paying and is against Charter.

How would a Dreambox help for a future subscription, when Sky ask for details of your digibox, like make, version, serial? Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, a Dreambox doesn't work with interactive and digital text services.

Anyway, as IrishTLR correctly said, a Sky digibox is the only legal receiver for Sky subs.

    No, I'll do it on-air

No less that €80 for the two together.

Selling is not allowed on these boards, you've to post on adverts.ie if you want to sell stuff.

But, I'm going to let it slide this once for the benefit of the OP. But in future, keep trading details non-public and use the PM system, or Adverts.ie

talk about something you know about before you start saying I am obtaining anything illigally..

its perfect legal to use a sky card in a dreambox, and I use a fully paid up subscription in mine...

in anwser to the question about activation that does need to be done in a real sky box... no red button stuff, just basic teletext...

The Sky Digibox is best solution for Sky pay TV.
BBC & Sky Interactive, automatic tuning, weekly detailed program guide, Digital text.

The Sky Digibox is the only offically supported solution too.

It is possible (and not illegal with a valid card) to use a PC or a Dreambox, or Reelbox or Triple dragon etc.. BUT:
    1) It may stop working tomorrow.
    2) You need a Skydigibox to reliably update card
    3) You need Sky Digibox for Pay per view or adding premium channels
    4) No proper EPG
    5) Blank screen and manual retuning when anything is changed
    6) Only basic teletext, on thos channels that actually have it on Satellite (not BBC)
    7) No interactive BBC Sport / News /weather
    8) No other Interactive.

It is an enthusist /hobby solution that may result in a needing a new card. Using it to share your valid card or watch using a shared card, even just in your own house is regarded as Theft everywhere in EU.

    Rubbish.

No-one knows when cards will expire.

There is no such thing as a FTA card (Free To Air). I'm sure you mean FTV (Free to View = Freesat from Sky)

Whilst not a great user of this forum, I find your language disgusting! Take your own advice - only speak when you have something interesting to say. Considering your number of posts I'm surprised you've lasted so long...

No doubt swamp thing is heading for a deserved ban from IDCG, less said the better.

To get back on topic to the OP's questions:-

Is there any shop that sells digital, recievers sky compatible, and sky dishs, with digital lnbs. - Sure, check the sticky posts here.

DO you have to get sky offically installed ,in order to get a sky reciever, with an epg on it. - No , have a look at ebay

I'm aware that you can buy secondhand recievers.Does the fta reciever for sale in DID electric shop have a good epg, onscreen guide.? - Well maybe, if you mean a Sky type epg, no it won't

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/
