For genuine value try famous Furniture on the long mile road (located where Compustore used to be - at the back of white bishop cars)
They get the over runs from M&S, Laura Ashley, Next and others and sell at about half price. - Genuine reductions and the furniture is at the high quality end.

Have you looked at the Argos offerings lately? Some good deals in there.. downside is you cant try before you buy.
