I just tried the voip free call that is on the homepage. HERE. The one where you dial in your number and then dial a number you want to talk to.

I let my wife talk to her mother and they both said that it was clear but there was an echo at both ends.
Do you think that this is any indication that I will have problems?

The call wasn't using your broadband connection, so it doesn't tell you anything about the quality of your broadband connection.

Right, so it's down to getting connected and checking it I suppose.
I did try two of the tests that were posted in one of the other threads. One gave good readings and suggested that I would have no problem, but the other said I should stick to snail mail!! :(

Is it still advisable to use a broadband connection when using the voipcheap
5c make a call phone to phone facility? It's just my brother in law in Italy can only get dial up at
the moment and wants to know if it's worth trying voipcheap so he can use this facility.

The "call back" service doesn't use your broadband connection. But!!!!! If you disconnect from the website after setting up the call, the call may disconnect. So it may not work if he tries to dial in, set up a call, and then disconnect so that he can take the call on the same line that he dialled in on.

    Ah yes, good point.

Would using a mobile as the from number make any difference to the call cost etc?

I have now got my K-220W2 USB phone installed and have used it to make call from and also used the set up call function.
Both have been less than satisfactory really..

    1. Using the USB phone to normal phone - bad echo our end, can hear own voice and anything else in the back ground. Break up on other normal phone.
    2. Using call function phone to phone - Sounds long distance, echo on other phone and break up.

Is there any chance this would improve with voip to voip as this hasn't been tried yet?
I was using the search facility on voipcheap and it always comes up with nothing regardless of what search criteria I input.

I have just contacted voipcheap customer services regarding the poor quality when using the direct call facilty.

Do you think I can expect to get any reply?
Has anyone else contacted them regarding anything?
