I think those ads with people jumping around ther armchairs weren't released on the telly... just for promotional use on the internet and live shows.

Yeah, they weren't ads, they were Wii Experience videos. They can be viewed on http://uk.wii.com/

I like it. It looks a lot more fun than carpet you can use outside.

I like it (as a nintendo fan) but as a company which has to compete with the might of sony advertising (and microsoft, to a lesser extent) I don't think it was amazing. I like the music, suits the overall "the japanes would like to come and play!" feel, and the wii in the sunset is nice, but you could walk away from it and not really notice/remember what the console's called. If sony made that ad, it would have ended with a strong logo or slogan to stick in the consumer's mind.

Looking at it again, the word nintendo is never mentioned.... odd.

Think it kinda fits with the console though, as its their first console not to have "Nintendo" as part of the name.

NES, SNES, N64, NGC -> Wii

GameCube wasnt called nintendo GameCube in the same was as NES/SNES and N64 were. Saying Nintendo GameCube is the same as saying Nintendo Wii

People didnt refer to it as Nintendo GameCube, but Nintendo themselves said the proper name for it is the Nintendo Gamecube. -> http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/en/GB/system/index.jsp

But with the Wii, they are referring to it simply as Wii. They have said that it shouldn't be called Nintendo Wii, just Wii.

They are trying to attract a non-gaming audience. Guess what everyone associates with Nintendo? Thats why it is just called Wii.

gotta love that ad, used to work with a lady just like the PS3 model attitude and all. Maybe they could have an xbox360 V ps3 ad and use the dreaded red lights of death they both now have in common http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjAeKMyxt3I

There's carpet you can view outside now?

Oh, and the ad is woeful.

Still getting a Wii though, in spite Nintendo's marketing inability.
