I was adding a fan to my PC, connected to the molex, turned on the pc to see if it was working and was, turned off PC to then put the fan in place.

I then turn it back on, the new fan works but the fan on the heat sink does no start, i turn off again and take off new fan.Reboot and the system fan works once more, turn off once more to put everything back in place.

Now........when i boot, the system fan moves for no more than a second, and the led on the front of the tower comes on for the same amount of time, im pretty sure no dirve spins and the MoBo does nothing. I have unpulgged it all, taken it apart and tried it again at every stage of the rebuild just to see if it was something silly stopping i from booting.

Does it sound like a broken power unit?

    Thanks in advance guys!

If you put it all back together without the new fan does it work?

At the moment I'm thinking it might be underpowered, although it would want to be fairly strained as it is to die over a new fan attached. Have you upgraded before?

Yeah i have upgraded before, i had my anti static band on and made sure i was nice and soft with everything lol, so i am pretty sure its nothing i have done to upset it. As i said in above post i dont think its over loaded as i tried it at different stages of the build and it still wouldnt boot with just the mother board/system fan to power. Unless by over load you mean the PSU over loaded and is not having a hissy fit?

    Thanks for the reply!
