    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/166234/art/samsung/le27t51bx-16-9-27-68cm-lc.html#fichetechnique

Total on this is €728 with delivery etc, and is in or around my budget.

the other on that caught my eye is this one but a bit over budget

    http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/1060583/Samsung_32_LE32R72BX_HD_Ready_LCD_TV/Product.html

Some questions also , and i knwo there have been a few threads on this recently.

Will this make much of a difference in graphics quality over what i use now
    - 19" tft pc monitor connected via vga cable.

Is it worth spending that kind of money on a HDTV as it will probably only be used for the 360 which is in my room and will stay there, and i usually watch tv with my house mates downstairs, i do have ntl digital in my room but gets watched once in a while for news etc.

I could probably connect my pc to it also but wouldnt think the image would be sharp enough for normal desktop use and id be worried about the damage sustained use might cause it.

    Opinions please

I'd splash out for a 26R7xB, they're a newer screen with better contrast, brighter and more picture processing options. You can get them for €820 delivered off Komplett.

Nope, but you will get better colours depending on the specs of your monitor and of course a bigger image.

The image they give with the 360 is fantastic but if its worth it is up to you.

It would be fine for that. They have a similar resolution to the 1280*1024 you are probably using on your current monitor.

I got that one a month ago, I'd highly recommend it. Its got component input for the xbox 360 and loads of other connectivity options. The picture is fantastic and to top it off its got a cool finish, all black and shiny.

Buy it calex71, you won't regret it.

    your found of your comma's!

Those samsung hd crt's are as low as 540 euros on the amazon.co.uk site, tells you how much of a rip off ireland is. Anyways check out avforumscom and 99% of ppl are complaining about them due to geometry problems and buzzing etc. Amazon are meant to have a newer revision now , the 429 model, maybe that will have no problems. But no use to ppl here atm since they dont deliver here.

See here's the problem, it's not 1080I compatible for that screen size it really should be (unless I've missed something here or the 1024 res is wrong...)
You can get a better set for your money.

CRT's aren't fixed pixel displays so it just depends what circuitry is inside as to what they can display and yes they can display 1080i.

STICKER on samsung hdcrttv 32,in harvey norman price 780euro, says 1024x768 resolution. OR look at aldi.ie, 32inch tv ,vga,730,1080i lcd. hmdi, probaly better if your main use is pc, xbox360 gaming.649EURO,november,23rd,next,thursday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 906 ✭✭✭FuzzyWuzzyWazza

Why would you want to display anything in 1080i, when 720p is muc sharper, and thats basically all HD is, a much shcrper image.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,227 ✭✭✭gamer

I presume 1080i,is handy for skytv hd,or you may get a hddvd drive.OR watch hd trailers from a pc thru hdmi.I see lidyl has a hd ready 32inch,tv,lcd next week, with,1VGA , 2composite,and free hdmi cable, free scart, free composite cable,stereo,cables.. Look at lidl.ie , COST 649EURO.its hdmi, hdcp enabled.360 games probably run better,at 720 ,its 16/9 not widescreen, nicam stereo. At least with 1080i ,it is futureproof.

Again with the 1080i.......if you want to buy a future proof tv get one capable of 1080p, 1080i is far less sharp then 720p. You must check the native resolution of any tv you are thinking about buying, the res of the one from pixmania for example is 1366 x 768, this means that it will be capable of displaying 720p and 1080i, with 720p each refresh of the screen updates 720 horizontal lines, while 1080i only updates half of the horozontal lines each refresh, meaning 540........ to get 1080p you need the verticle resolution to be greater than 1080 lines.

EDIT: I hope thats as clear as mud now.

Not bad at all for the price, the Luminosity is lower than the other two mentioned here, but other than that it is a good buy.

This TV runs at 100MHz (or Ghz cant remeber) so would it be able to play 360 games such as GOW which needs 60Mhz. Was gona buy this tv till I saw that

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,227 ✭✭✭gamer

Its a 100mhz tv crt hdready with component inputs for hd 360.I t will play any 360 game at 720 p, including gow,or any 60mhz game.IF a game is programmed in 1080i it will play that too.99 percent 360 games programmed in 720p format, p means progressive display, means shows all tv frames sent from console or dvd or video camera .this tv has no vga connector .I i use svideo to connect my pc ,picture quality is excellent ,especally on skydigital,or sd standard pal tv or ntl cable tv.Some older tvs cant show games at 60mhz, cos they only 50mhz display tube.ITS got 4/3 ,16/9 display modes or zoom modes 32inch widescreen.I dont think any1s making 50htz HDready tvs with 1080i capability ,as far as i know.

Its the best tv i have seen for sd tv,sky ,ntl standard tv display quality, that also has 720p and 1080i,use the component connector for hd 360 gaming. The amount of 360 games released in 1080i will be tiny, 1080 could be handy if you get hddvd or sky tv in hd.100mhz tv with 1080i plays ANY GAME on any console ps3 included.the samsung tv 32inch WS32Z429T ON THAT SITE HAS THE exactly SAME specifications ,its a digital slimline crt, truesurroundsound,TRUEflatscreen, virtualsurround.
I dont think they make hdtvs with less than 6omhz capability.
