Bad news about Fender Japan

It appears Fender are cracking down on the exportation of Fender Japan products. Ishibashi are no longer allowed to sell Fender Japan products internationally. Check out their webpage. It's the same with Guitar Japan. I'd expect others to follow suit soon...

    "Dear Richard,

Thank you for your e-mail. This is Hiroaki from Ishibashi WEB SHOP.

    Yes, exactly.
Originally Fender Japan was manufactured for Japanese market only not for overseas... So we can not send brand new Fender Japan guitars to overseas at the moment. I am very sorry such inconvenience.

If you have question, please feel free to ask me.
    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,
    Hiroaki Gohno/International Sales Agent
    Ishibashi WEB SHOP
    Ishibashi Music Corporation"

Feck. What's the story with them anyway? Are they any way as good as the Mex Standards?

Oh, how embarrassing. Didn't notice that one.

At least Edwards are still available though.

Are they actually available from Ishibashi though?

They have a new 'Edwards corner.' Are they not for international sale either?!?

I doubt they will be for long as Edwards is a Japan only brand :(

    Yeah, probably. ;)

Most of them are vintage(ish) spec. So they compare with the American vintage series, which is pretty pricey. If they arent as good, theyre probably so close as to make buying an american one a pretty stupid idea (3 times the cost or whatever...)

Well that su-hu-hucks. I mean those are good quality guitars. The mexican fenders are a bit dodge in my opinion.

Don't forget folks, this only applies to new guitars. Second hand ones don't count ;)

Ah, but what about second hand? ;)

    Edit: Damn you Fey!

Crap! I had to choose between a left handed Edwards and a left Fender when I ordered a month ago. I went for the Edwards keeping an eye in Fender in the long time (like a couple of years on).
