I am now in the Ishibashi buyers club.

This is a Fujigen OS6 with circle frets. Fujigen are the folks that make the Ibanez J machines :D Anyone know how long shipping takes?

Oh, Ancient1, that's 2 guitars I've bought before my custom arrives. So, kebabs are on you, yeah? :D

Shipping should take about a week.

Looks nice, I'd say it's an extremely well crafted piece of kit, what kinda pups are on it?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

No idea :D I'm getting it for less than a Mex strat :D

    I'm in love! :o

    Pity it's about €2600 though. ;)

What, may I ask, are circle frets?

Ah come on, it has a certain charm to it, no? It's like a piece of victorian furniture, but it's a guitar!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

At every fret, the string meets the fret at a right angle. It's for perfect intonation...

That seems like a very interesting idea. Somewhat like fanned frets, but not as extreme.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, pretty much. Should be good :D

Looks like it could be Gandalf's guitar, maybe seen on the cover of his greatest hits CD, "Rockin' with thah Hobbits".

Oh yeah? Don't make me pick up the phone and tell Mustafa what you were saying about his little sister. :p

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Ya see, you shouldn't leave us unsupervised. The Doc leaves the forum and you're MIA. What did you expect?

    And she's a lovely girl...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

The Fujigen strat is a lovely girl (subject to my QA of course), but Mustafa's sister....

    Heh.

Come to think of it I have better things to be doing than pestering everyone on here with my inane questions, like, would any p-bass scratchplate fit my '77 or should I be careful that there are the same ammount of holes and in the same places et.

Ha ha ha, I'll still be around, cheers Johnny, I just don't have enough time to devote to being mod anymore, just got 9-5 work, 6-12 studio work, getting a band together and writing tunes and a tonne of other stuff going on so something had to give. This place is top heavy with mods as it is ;D . I'll hang around until I finally see Hungus play some of his gear at a gig :p

Nice guitar there..any more info on these fujigen strat copies? Are they well regarded? Vintage spec? etc

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭fish-head

Very nice Feylya. I used to dislike strats but my friend left his 50th anniversary jap in my house and we're getting on quite well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

    Fey,

I was just using that as an example of how idiotic the questions might get. :o I did know that already, but thanks anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,993 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

Isn't FujiGen the same place that makes the CIJ Fenders too?
Anyway its a very nice looking guitar. Please let us know how the circle frets work out. ;)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Yessir, same factory/company. I know Don1 ;) The circle frets will be interesting...

Good stuff man, I was worried there for a second. It was starting to sound like what happened with my J Custom, what with the last update being in Tokyo for so long before being declared missing.

Who handles EMS's packages in Ireland? I'm gonna guess it's An Post seeing as the package is in PTL (Portlaoise?)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

I don't know, my guitar went to customs and I got a letter out in the post to pay duties and pick it up.

An Post. You should have it tomorrow if it's in customs today.

Is the house not clean or something?! Oooh burn, or not. Bleh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

If its been through customs and ready for delivery, it should say something like IVS at some stage tomorrow (IN VAN SCAN), which means its in a van and will be delivered at whatever time he passes near you on his route. If youre not home it goes to the depot and you have to pick it up.

You should know by the tracking info if it went through customs. If it did, youll have to pay the delivery man, or pay at the depot if you miss the delivery.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

IT went through customs :( The reason I don't want it tomorrow is because I'll be away at a particular gig...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I just had a look at the tracking thingy and my guitar spent 11 minutes in customs. Bit quick isn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

They just look at the form. If it needs a feee they calculate it. Wouldnt imagine it takes that long. Also An Post tracking isnt great so I wouldnt believe what it says completely. Last time I had a guitar delivered it stated online that the delivery to my house was made which it wasnt. I rang the depot and the driver dropped it at the depot without attempting delivery. Had to go down and pay customs fees and pick up my guitar.

OK, this is bull****. It took three days to get from Toyko to Portlaoise. Assuming they won't deliver on Saturday or Sunday, it'll have taken 5 days to get from Portlaoise...
