Was reading through the WSOP H.O.R.S.E. Event thread and I was just thinking that if you had the opertunity to put the best 5 poker players in the world together, who would you pick?

I'm not totally sure, but i think i'd put Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson and Marcel Luske in, must have a think about the other 2!

It would depend on the game but we'll just say Patrick Antonius, Chip Reese, J Dags, Johnny Lodden and Chief Brody. That would be an interesting table.

    My 5 favourite. SUPERstars

The General (I have Ices, slam dunk) , The Chief (that's poker man.). Random Scandanvian guy (just for cash games) , Doc Holiday (LAG from Tombestone City)
and my Granny (..luckbox but can smell a rat from a mile away and won't reveal my tell, the.old goat.)

    AND SERIOUSLY
Phil Ivey, Phil Helmut (as a tourny player ) Doyler Snr (legend) , Greenstein (for generosity and excellence) and Dan (the man) Harrington.

    Stu Ungar
    Chip Reese
    Phil Ivey
    John Juanda
    Johnny Chan

(edited to put in Juanda instead of Harrington... DeVore is right)

    Presuming its NLH:
Ivey, Juanda (how anyone can have left him out I dont know, I've watched him play, he's terrifyingly talented), Juha Helpi, Chan, Ferguson.

If we're allowed dead people then Stu Ungar would have to be there somewhere too.

    DeV.

    Paul Clark
    Jean-Robert Bellande

The Table that i would fear the most would be

Gabe Thaler , ivey , antonius , negreanu and darrell dicken

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 233 ✭✭gocall01

Phil Ivey - looks like he's on drugs with his eyes darting from pillar to post.
Johnny Chan - the legend in a tracky!
Gus Hansen - I will outplay you on the flop and then some more on the turn.
TJ Coultier - just like this man's style.
Dan Harrington - his results are a testiment to good ABC poker with some variable plays (this is how I play, right or wrong, it's winning me some cash).

    darrell dicken

I wouldn't be happy having him on the table alright.

    My top five would be:

    Phil Ivey
    Chris Ferguson
    Doyle Brunson
    Johnny Chan

Can't pick a fifth, Gus Hansen or Dan Negreanu maybe.

In the context of the HORSE thread would Chip Reese not be a shoe in?

notice that so far only one online player has been mentioned....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Well Darrel Dicken and Johnny Lodden are both predominantly internet players. Ivey, Handsen, Juanda and others would all be regular internet players - as in they play almost every day!

    raymer make none of these??

ivey, hanson, luske, doyle and raymer

i know darrel is gigabet, but who is johnny lodden?

also, i doubt any of the others you mentioned would consider themselves 'online players'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Johnny Lodden is bad_ip. Young Scandy who plays the biggest games on the net and is apparently one of the biggest winners

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

Just interesting that many people consider the top online players to be better than the top b&m players, yet nobody will include them in their top 5 'superstars'

Did you find that $10 yet?

    :)

Read the recent Poker In Europe article on Johnny Lodden. Something like ..... A player on Stars was upset by Lodden so challenged him to a head-up for "all of your bank". He put up $190,000. Then Lodden sat down with $5,900,000. The first player left immediately.

LOL, yeah I read that too, Lodden is a savage player, I don't think he's 21 yet, so can't play in america yet.

Monica Leigh - Miss March, 2006
Deanna Brooks - Miss May, 1998
Carmella DeCesare - Playmate of the Year, 2004
Brande Roderick - Playmate of the Year, 2001
    Natalie Pinkham

---it wouldn't be good poker but it'd be nice a nice table to spectate....

Is that not because this whole thread is about what 5 "Superstars" people would pick to play against the best online players??

It just so happens that the likes of Lodden, Dicken, Prahlad, Antonius, et al have made the move to Live tournaments to try and pick up some of the easier money and to hopefully get themselves a lucrative sponsorship deal. :p:p

Also, I think a lot of the live pro's wouldnt be happy about being considered 'easier money' :)
