    Hi,

I am starting to think about what to pack for my year visit to Canada. I know there will be all sorts of weather so I've already bought a ski jacket and rain jacket.

I have a good rucksack, I just wonder what to put in it?!

Bed sheets are very expensive in Canada as are Duvets so if you can bring a second bag do bring some bedding i had to fork out €70 on the cheapest duvet possible in Walmart. So bring bedding.

A lot depends on what part of Canada you're going to.

The eastern part and central Canada get very hot summers and very cold winters..

The west coast is a lot milder but gets a hell of a lot of rain in the winter..

Dont overpack as you will regret it, bring the essentials, dont worry about big bulky clothing items, multiple layers are better than one big bulky item. Good walking shoes are essential.

The canadians dont tend to get really dressed up when out on the town unless its a special occassion, I've relatives there and one thing they used to comment when over here and out with us was how dressed up everyone got and they are from Toronto not some hickville town out in the middle of no where. :D

Personally I'd bring whatever clothes I normally wear here in Ireland and buy the rest over there. You have outlet stores over there that really are dirt cheap if you avoid the big name labels and things in general are usually a lot cheaper over there.

What you're better off doing is saving your euro's here, heading over there with the essentials and buy what you need when you need it. There are 1.5 Canadian dollars for every euro

    Tox
