Background Checks on Prospective Tenants

    Hi,

I'm about to go off travelling for a year and am in the process of letting my house. The tips for landlords on Myhome.ie suggest doing background checks on prospective tenants as well as credit checks. Does anyone have any opinion on the benefit of these, and how to go about doing them. Also, any other tips for checking out tenants other than just getting references.

I've met the tenants, they seem fine, obviously I can't guarantee that they won't wreck my house, but fingers crossed!

    Thanks,
    A.
