    Hi all

Heading to New York at the weekend through Shannon to do some shopping - has anyone had any experiences with Customs in Shannon? I just spoke to someone who said that they are really strict checking bags etc on return.

    Cheers

I arrived on a flight from Boston at 6am-ish in the morning this time last year, bags stuffed with shopping, not a customs man or woman to be seen anywhere.
That being said things may have changed since so take the usual precations, remove labels, packaging etc before you pack for your trip home.
Very little talk in the media this year about shopping trip to the US and the customs implications I notice

    Hi

Yeah I'm also assuming that the media frenzy about this that was there last year doesnt kick off for at least a week or so. I suppose you can be unlucky, The usual precautions will be taken like taking off labels etc. I think they might be suspicious though with two bags fulls of clothes etc for a weekend!

I have herad that there is a greater customs presence on a Monday morning at Shannon rather than other mornings, which makes sense seeing as you would have a lot of weekend trips.

I have flown through Shannon loads of times and never got no problems, Just pack the stuff into your suitcase and it will be fine. Maybe remove the labels if you want to but I don't think it hardly matters.
