Can someone recommend a good space shooter game for the PC - in the same vain as the Star Wars Trilogy arcade game?

Also, was the Transformers game (release for the Playstation about 2 years ago) ever released onto PC aswell?

    Thanks
    Karl

Best space shooter ever is Freespace 2. You can get it for free nowadays, check the Free Games Sticky for links.

The Transformers games was PS2 exclusive, I'm afraid.

Thanks guys, the site with Freespace 2 is down at the moment.

Does anyone have another link for this?

Thats a shame bout Transformers - it looks very cool.

    Thanks

For Freespace you could try the Home of the Underdogs site.
FYI though, it's more of a mission-based pseudo-sim, like X-wing or TIE Fighter, than a straight shooter like the Star Wars arcade. Still brilliant, but for more basic shooting you could try the Star Wars:Starfighter games, which are also on PC.

Heh -- you could always look for a cheap copy of TIE Fighter; some guys got it working on WinXP (finally). One of the best games, ever. :D
