    I all

I have been in contact with young’s; they supply most of grape and grains equipment and grain. They have a number of additional grains that grape and grain don’t sell here is a list, mainly in 500g or 3kg although some are available in 25kg sacks

Amber, Black, Chocolate, Crystal, Lager, Mild, Pale, Wheat, Roasted Barley

All above are whole. But can also be crushed, with the exception of Amber, Mild and Roasted Barley.

I was wondering if anyone was interested in seeing if grape and grain will increases their range of grains. I personal would love have access to wheat, mild and amber malts with out have to pay large postage charges. Just thought I would see what people thought.

I have found them willing to order anything from Young's if they don't have it in. Give them a call and they'll be able to get it for you.

Having said that it would be nice if they offered more grains as a matter of course. Maybe if they realised they were losing out to UK HB shops they might stock more specialty grains etc.

Indeed. I just got a shipment from Brouwland. As the cost is €50 for up to 30kgs I found myself ordering more than I needed (variety-wise). But they do have a fantastic range. I'd prefer to get the bulk stuff locally though.

They are certainly willing to get other grains for you, as I have bought 25Kg sacks of pale malt and 3Kg bags of both crushed wheat malt and crushed crystal malt from them this week.

I wonder if the problem is with updating their website rather than their willingness to stock the grains.

Thanks for that, I had asked about other grains, but they never mentioned they could get them for me.

What's the best way to order from them? Are they more responsive to a phone call than e-mail?

I find the phone is best; you may have to try the land line and/or mobile to get them

With Grape and Grain you really need to get the printed catalogue off of them the website is not nearly as up to date as the one they'll post out to you, kinda defeats the purpose of a website, but hey at least they have a web presence.

I find that Linda gets back to me the evening of the day I email her, so email works OK too.

Is that the yahoo mail, because the other one bounced?

Not that it matters, as I phoned in anyway.

I could have sworn I replied to this post yesterday.

The yahoo email address is the one you should use, as the @grapengraindublin.com one has been out of commission for months.

They really need to get someone competent to look after their net presence. They have their own .com domain, but they are not using it properly. It would only take a couple of minutes to update their on-line catalogue and there is absolutely no excuse for not using their own mail domain. If there is a problem with their hosting providers they need to change providers.

I have spoken to people who looked at their website and decided not to bother with Grape n Grain, because the on-line catalogue did not have the stuff they were looking for on it. I wonder do they realize that their poorly maintained website is costing them business.

    Thanks for that guildofevil

With hop and grape offering postage P&P for up to 30kg for 17 Stg to Ireland they could be losing out on some business they could easily supply

I think it's a case of old dogs and new tricks.

The website is pointless and they possibly do enough business without the new fangled technology.
Maybe someone should tell them that they are potentially losing business?

It's a real pity. And a pity they closed down the store thay had in Ranelagh (closed about 4 or 5 years ago maybe?). Linda was very helpful to me over e-mails, but the catalogues she e-mailed contained pretty much exactly what was on the website, so unfortunately I did go elsewhere.
