Take away Matt Chapman, (who I used to find entertaining) and I'd say ATR for me. He's too much of a clown for me.

Obviously I dislike the constant ad breaks but that's what we get for a free service.

the coverage on racing uk is far better imo but i refuse to pay for it anymore.

had it for about 18 months and decided it was too much money for one channel

Channel 4 is my favourite channel to watch racing on, failing that it would be BBC, and failing that ATR. I'm not too big a fan of RUK but that's cause I haven't given it a chance yet. There's no personality to it.

Did you know its part of the setanta pack mate? You get several channels for the same price now, not just racing UK. More bang for your buck ;)

Racing UK are a far more professional outfit, with a responsible attitude, ATR are chancers that bumble their way around. (Ive worked for them from time to time) and there are simply too many fools on ATR. (Chapman - the uber fool, RIchard Pitman, Luke Harvey, Gordon Brown, Dean McKeown, Derek Thompson and now Lee Mottershead (who at least is a more articulate form of fool)) They are the most visible evidence of racing dumbing itself down in an attempt to gain more newbie's money, fighting with poker sites etc for the gambling pound. It essentially presents the type of information in the same manner that you'd get in a betting office. Everything about ATR is cheap and unedited - from pictures of Best Mate on his last racecourse appearance, and ROger Loughran standing up in teh saddle on its opening credits, to the cheap ass techno music it plays behind its promos. The bald cockney punter saying "Go on my son" in the intro.

Racing UK doesnt have racing every day, as ATR have the AW, but while both present replays, Ive got copies of the all Grand Nationals from 1960, all champion chases since the 80, GOld Cups from the 60s on, because Racing UK caters for the racing fan, ATR caters for the punter. You can always bet on the American and now Australian racing if you want.

If ATR didnt have the Irish racing, there wouldnt be any need for it.

I generally prefer to see purely a discussion on racing so for me Racing UK gets the nod. I don't mind ATR most of the time, Get On can be decent in the mornings. I can't stand watching racing on C4, there's nothing more nauseating than watching Tommo interviewing an 80 year old granny, they must only spend a tiny percentage of their time discussing the racing.

ATR has all the Irish racing which is a big help considering Bookmakers favour showing numbers draws/BAGS races and other high margin problem gambling mediums ahead of an Irish meeting. However looking at its english coverage I understand where the ATR = 'All the Rubbish' tag comes from. So I suppose it depends if your priority is Irish or English racing.

If you fancy a racing chat tonight, get on ATR now and drop them a mail. There's no live US racing until around 11 o clock so they're struggling to fill the time...

Any idea what time if tonight they will show clonmel races again,i know it would be the morning but thats work.i think they would be better to stick to say 7 to 8pm not 5pm?? to show racing replay they could stick american racing behind red button for hour or so

They just said they'll look back on Clonmel "in due course", they're only talking shite now so I'm sure they'll get to it soon enough.
