DVD burn skipping

I have copied a couple of movies from my hard drive onto dvd for a friend of mine but when I do this there seems to be certain points in the movies that skip or get stuck, even though the movie is perfect on my harddrive. anyone had any similar problems like this which have since been resolved?

It's the quality of the discs in combination with the write strategy for the media in your DVD writers firmware.

Change your media, update your firmware or change your writer is the simple answer.

There is one other possibility in that the DVD reader/player your friend has is crap and cannot read certain media reliably.
