Off/Bad Training Days, How do you handle them?

    How do you hanle your off or bad training days?

    You know when your energy is down, you feel tired, or your
    really off beat and cannot string a left right punch combo together!

    I had one this morning.

    Not only was I on low batteries, but everything was going wrong.

    I was a bit annoyed, as I was looking forward to a good session.

    So I decided you can...

    1. Bull on out of brute ignorance, try to fight it , which you get more tried, sloppier technique, frustration rises into anger, and you go home in a right sulk at your
    lack of performance.

    2. Take a chill pill, and recognise your having an off day, and rather than fight it, decide to work on light technique, or foot work, or check your hands are up proper. Play around with it. do not push forward with brute force, and enjoy a light and easy session, tomorrow is new day and maybe better.

    3. Get real mad and discouraged, say whats the point this is for young lads in their teens, start skipping trainiging and going to Starbucks to gulp muffins, horse coffee in, and eye up women.


    I tried the No 1 approach a few times and learned the hard way, consider No 3 once or twice...but new I d regret it. So I decided No 2 is the best way to go, gear down a bit, turn the volume down, and work light and easy.

    I have generally subscribed to the "go hard or go home " approach to training. So when I have off days I push really hard for 10 minutes. Usually that gets me back into the right frame of mind. However If I still feel like crap I will then slow it right down. If I'm weight training I will switch to lighter weights and use super strict form. If I'm training in MA I will drop the intensity right down and focus on trying to get my technique as good as possible. If I have 2 off days in a row I will take a 3-5 day break from training.

    I have noticed that as I get older I need more recovery time to avoid those off days
