Dish advice

My Sky dish has stopped working. The three year old Pace box appears to be working fine, albeit with [No satellite signal is being received] permanently emblazoned across the screen. Signal test reveals no signal, with the Lock Indicator displaying [not Locked].

I tried a satellite finder (at the Sky box end of the cable) and it didn't suggest that a satellite signal was being received. There have been no storms recently, no flocking birds(!), and the tree that used to interfere with our reception has mercilessly been chopped down (inside I'm crying). The dish is located on the chimney, and I have no access to the roof (no ladder tall enough).

    Should I:
    a) Buy a tall ladder (25+ feet) and fiddle around with it Rod Hull style, hoping that it is indeed the dish at fault, never to use said ladder again? Any recommendations?
    b) Get a satellite installer to come have a look (with his/her own ladder). I'm using a FreeSat card, so have no Sky sub (and I'm not in a rush to go back to them). Any recommendations in the Shankill, Co. Dublin area?
    c) Go back to Sky for the minimum period, get them to sort it all out (wimpy style) then drop them like a hot-snot as soon as the minimum period is over (not too fond of this option).

Previous hunts for tall ladders in the locality to borrow have been fruitless.

Oh, and by the way, the tree was chopped down for altogether less selfish reasons. I just threw that in for dramatic effect.

There is little point buying a ladder you have no other use for, so I reckon go for Plan B! It should be cheaper than a ladder and it'll save you the hassle of climbing the roof.

What model is the Pace box btw? Old Pace 2200/2500's were synominous (sp?) with tuner failure, giving the "NSS" banner you describe, though I think it's longer than 3 years since these were last made

Don't buy the ladder. Going on roofs is NOT an occasional pastime.

Thanks for the advice. If anyone has any recommendations for Satellite installers/repairmen who operate in the South County Dublin (Shankill/Bray) area, can you please pm me contact details?
