Hey All

Ive been thinking of getting broadband and as im not to much of a tech person I know nothing about the subject so I would much apprieciate any response.

How do you find out if the area you live can get BB in the first place? (Wexford)

Do you need to keep the house phone?

Which option is regarded as the best?

And Finally as we have a Sky subscription does anyone have any info on there option of BB

Iam definetly not tech. minded I.ve only begun to use the Net I found if you try Eircom .Net they will let you know if your line is o.k.
But dont hold your breath. what P####s me off is all the specials they are offering will have run out before they get around to me, I,m in the Carlow area.I know of an area where a Broadband co. who was based 15 mts. from an Exchange were selling their system for months after it was enabled because noone announced it even the agentdid not know . So check your line who knows you maybe lucky.

Sky have NO broadband product in Ireland.


Sky Broadband is only available on UK DSL, in UK. Nothing to do with Satellite.

There is a Company/Product called SkyDSL. That *IS* a satellite product, but is nothing to do with Sky/BskyB/NDS, nothing to do with broadband, isn't DSL and is only download accelerator for Dialup.

Hey gooner.
I'm originally from Wexford too and I recently was looking into BB for my sister who still lives there. It seems that the county is pretty screwed when it comes to BB. If you can't get Eircom, then your best options are WexfordBroadband.ie or SkyTel.ie, both of which are wireless (I think)
