Software firewall necessary?

I've an old PC with just 128mb RAM that's of little use so I'll prob just use it for downloading stuff. I just want to put the min. of software on it and apart from the OS I'm trying to figure out what I should add.

Was thinking firefox, AVG-free, spybot, windows defender and ad-aware.
Would there be any need to add a firewall as the PC will be sitting behind a router? Would the windows firewall suffice?

The built in Windows firewall will suffice no need for anything extra unless you want finer control over outbound programs.

    Thanks!

I'm now also half considering installing a lightweight P2P client.
If I decide to add a P2P client to this machine would this leave me vunerable to incoming traffic as I would have port forwarding enabled on the router for this machine? Or do P2P client's handle traffic securely on the opened port?

Opening the port doesn't automatically mean your PC is vulnerable. If you open a port and the application that is using that port is vulnerable then hackers could exploit the app to use your machine. Even if you had a software firewall it would make no difference as you'ld have to open the port on that too.

Simpler answer. You're safe enough. Open one port. Forward it to your PC. Setup your BT client to listen on that port. Check back with the BT clients website periodically for updates to the program.
